Update for everyone (I won't send an [ @Mention ] this time because people should be following the thread if they're interested), since I recently made an edit in the opening post. Part of the character sheet is now included for those who'd like to get a head start on working out characters. I'm considering the removal of the 'Age' category, because it's sort of pointless having that in a role-play where both birthdays and the present date of the story are provided (my IC posts will always include the current date). 'Also Known As' was a category I usually have in my character sheets but it got omitted here. [b]If you have any thoughts about 'Age' being kept or 'Also Known As' being put back in then I'd appreciate you bringing them up with me here[/b]. Also, since we've easily got at least enough interest to meet the minimal requirement for the role-play, I'll be moving things to the official thread in the near future. Before this can happen though, I'm going to bring up another post soon that will divulge on several elements of the role-play (without really spoiling anything) and I'd like all those present to give me any opinions they've got on them. [@KoL] Ah, right. I'd never heard of Gossik before, but it's interesting to know the premise is that similar. I do know Poe, but I wasn't aware of he wrote the first detective story and that's an interesting bit of trivia. If I get some spare time (read: not happening for a while) I'll check out the anime and possibly look into the other story, but I actually don't read very much. I agree that there's certain aspects that a role-play has to be handled differently to a novel, primarily in the sense that you can't just let the players feel like they're nothing but pawns being used to direct the story down a particularly plot. On the other hand, I do feel that not executing a role-play [i]enough[/i] like a novel can also have issues, mostly by sabotaging the quality of the writing. I try to balance out the two, since I'm a very detailed writer in general and I find that I don't so much increase or decrease the amount of detail so much as I change the specifics of the details. The decision to have this story be capable of multiple 'routes', if you will, was mostly built around the idea that I didn't want everyone to feel like they were just pawns, as I mentioned earlier. At the same time, I'm fairly confident in my ability to move a plot towards a certain direction without killing the immersion for people. For example, I've already explained that this role-play will operate on a time schedule, but instead of simply springing a major shift in time on you all while you're in the middle of character interaction - possibly interfering with whatever you're engaging in - each one of my IC posts will include the current time and I'll be taking efforts to make sure it feels like time is moving forward realistically based on what people are doing.
