Before I say anything, I'd just like to say that me and [@tsukune] continued to discuss some of the thoughts I've presented here over Skype, so some of what I say now will include that alongside taking into account what [@Pudding] said. I believe I've made my decision regarding certain matters now, so I appreciate everyone's input. The 'Age' category will be removed, and I also won't be having people include their age in the 'Birthdate' category; in fact, for the sake of us not needing to edit information in the event of a birthday, I want you to outright not put it there. I honestly think catering to people who suck as math is less important than avoiding the annoyances of potentially having to edit the age or work out a way to specify that the age was at time of arrival at the setting. As was just mentioned in the previous post, characters can figure out each other's ages IC. I'm not going to have the day of the week born or time zone included in the character sheets, but I'll still be putting the day of the week in my IC posts -- I've worked out how to handle it now. The time zone is also redundant technically (like 'Age'), due to the 'Place of Origin' determining it. Due to the complications of things like daylight savings messing with time zones slightly, I think I'm going to remove this from my personal templates too. I knew there was a reason I used to not include it. One detail cancels out another detail -- this is the sort of thing I mean when I say the truth's in the details. As was brought up in the Skype discussion, and is also something I've personally brought up on the site a few times, the only reason we'd have to include the 'Blood Type' category would be if the story was set in Japan (because their culture believes it has an impact on personality, so you will be judged by your blood type and frequently asked it), there was going to be a transfusion or someone would donate blood (unlikely given our setting, but not impossible), or if there was a certain mystery that could only be solved involving blood types somehow (I don't have anything like this planned... [sub]yet *shifty eyes*[/sub]).
The 'Also Known As' could this include preferred names? I was thinking about having my character introduce themselves as something easier to say, or shortened. Kind of like; "My names Andrew, but you can call me Andy"
What you just suggested falls under 'nickname', so yes this could be included. This brings up the next point. The 'Private CS' will be including information that relates to your character's history and also specifies what their wish for coming here is, possibly among other categories, but will also include a category called 'Secrets'. You can take one guess of what this would pertain to -- yeah, I'm gonna allow certain parts of your 'Public CS' to be a lie, but only if the truth regarding those lies is listed in the 'Private CS' you PM to me for acceptance. Not all your secrets are related to deceptions in the 'Public CS' though. With this in mind, I'm still thinking 'Also Known As' should be public. Any thoughts? Once discussion about these matters is out of the way, I'll be making one more important update post - possibly hitting everyone with the [ @Mention ] feature - so that significant details not being talked about can be gotten out of the way, and then I'll be posting up the official thread for the role-play.
