Name: Asaikes Xyphothes Age: 31 Gender: Male Race: Human Appearance Head covered by a thick black mop of hair and brown eyes framed by heavy eyebrows gives the chiseled and long face of gives one the impression a dour and serious man. That is an assumption quickly dispelled however as this sun kissed son of Velt is a man of calm cheer and quick smiles. Personality Asaikes is by large an unobtrusive man with a careful optimism and patience like a saint, even though his humor leans towards the ironic and darker side. He is quick to befriend people in a shallow sort of way and slow to trust and open up in a more meaningfull way to comrades in arms, this being a sideeffect of his mercenary part. That being said, he is in all situations a teamplayer, recognising that a battle line is as strong as its weakest member. For those he considers companions he would go to the ends of the world, knowing they would do the same for him. Brief Backstory
Growing up as the third child to a scrivener and an inkeeper there Asaikes had a comparatively easy upbringing, not rich but never starving he was a quiet if somewhat restive boy. Being apprenticed to an apothecary at age ten laid the foundations for skills that would save his life a multitude of times, while not a healer by far the now elder knight knows enough about broken bones, fleshwounds and camprot that he can comfortably treat several of the multitude of dangers facing fighting men and women. Fate intervened however and the teenaged Asaikes lost his apprenticeship at age fifteen when master Laurentius remarried and the new lady of the house saw fit for her own son to take his place. In hotheaded anger he stole from his master and spent the coin drinking through out the night finally falling asleep in the cart of a travelling caravan. After a few hours travelling the morning after he was found out and given an earful by the caravans irate owner and a thorough roughening up by the mans sellsword, as he lay there heaving on the muddy road a few meters behind the last cart a band of roving bandits decided to make themselves known. The fight that followed was short but brutal with several men dead or wounded. Asaikes however managed to save the leg of the mercenary captain named Hilde Schussner, and soon thereafter he found himself a place in the mercenary company "The green and blues". It was in this capacity he found himself travelling across the width and breadth of the world, from hunting bands of marauding orcs in the mountains of Velt to guarding warehouses overflowing with goods in bustling Calthir. The unfortunate destruction of the company five years ago after a particularly nasty run in with a company in the employ of their clients antagonist had the few surviving blue-greens scatter to the winds. Asaikes struck out as a freelancer, lending his shield, sword and halberd to whomever paid the highest and three years ago fell into the employ of Count Nashell, a middling Thalnian aristocrat. He served loyally and dutifully, glad to have somewhere to belong once more. Lord Nashell found ill however but chance would have it that the sergeant of the guard Xyphotes by chance stumbled across a conversation by the lords wife and the designated lord regent and decided to investigate the matter closely while biding his time. He was however forced to act due to the ever worsening condtition of the count, finally bringing what ever evidence he had to ser Llewellyn the younger brother of the lord. A nasty game of cat and mouse followed with the sergeant and Ser Llewellyn coming out on top with the count luckily surviving. The stain the unfortunate series of events had given the Nashell name however while not ruinating was significant, and evil, jealous whispers spread by long standing retainers and enemies of the count made Asaikes presence at court untenable. Having taking a liking to his sergeant and ever greatful for his loyal service, Lord Nashell was loathe to send him away but had to put the needs of the family name and stability first. To show his gratitude however, he rewarded Asaikes with a knighthood, dubbing him personally and awarding him the requisite paperwork before sending him away with a generous sum of gold and a fine destrier. The newly minted knight meandered his way towards the capital and towards the knights of the Iron rose, having heard tales of the brave actions of their previous captain by awed veterans of the war of the red flag. While taking those stories with a heavy amount of salt, Asaikes cannot help but feel bewildered. Never in his wildest boyhood dreams did he belive he would one day become a knight, even as this is now is a fact. On his feet sits a pair of good quality shoes in hardened leather. In battle he keeps to his halberd to keep the enemy at a distance, an arming sword at his hip and roundshield on his back helps in situations where the halberd is too long or if the fiends decide to get up close and personal. Skills Qualified medic Asaikes knows alot about how the human body works, and also how to put it together in mostly working order when it inevitably breaks. Dirty fighter The man is a vicious fighter, and he who fights the dirtiest is more often than not the one walking away breathing from a fight. Unyeilding whether by denying the enemy the room to move as he pleases with the tip of his polearm or by being a living wall with his shield, this man stands and it will take considerable effort to move him. Dabbling polymath This man knows much, but not very thoroughly. He may have briefly read about it, seen the place from afar or met someone who was there. Its bits and pieces allright, but sometimes its even usefull.
