The Intro

It's been a long while since I've roleplayed, and I recently realized that I miss it terribly. So. Hello! :D I don't believe in rules. Really, I don't. Just don't be a jerk, and we'll get on fine. Lucky you; I'm skipping the usual "rules" section I see so often. That said: I consider myself a writer. I've spent the better part of the last ten years getting kind of decent at it. I'd say I'm somewhere between "probably adequate" and "pretty okay". I wrote a novel, and I self-published it, and a few of my friends liked it, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. The point is: I love characters, I love creating them, I love throwing them in ridiculous situations, and god knows I love torturing them. I will happily write pages of background or character description or dialogue if you'd like me to. (Case in point: this post is rather lengthy because I don't know when to shut up. sorrynotsorry) Sidebar: I like grammar and punctuation a lot; I think it's neat, and its rules continue confuse and amaze me. How the hell did English get this far with so many nonsensical rules? "I before E, except after C"? Ha!

The Preferences

I am willing to try anything once. Well, given I have the faintest familiarity with the setting. So, for example, that super cool anime that you watch that no one's heard of because it's not mainstream yet? Yeah, I don't know it either, and I am sorry for that, because I'm sure it's really quite something, but I cannot reliably RP in that setting. I mean, sure, I'll give it my best shot, but you'll likely cringe at how much I destroy the fundamentals of the setting. My favorite thing about any story is the characters. So as long as you have at least one interesting character, I'll be having fun. Hopefully so will you. I have a few plots that I'd like to mess around with (listed and summarized below). Spoiler: I might be working on novels with these premises. So if you want to RP any of them, and our RP happens to give me inspiration, I will first ask your permission to put it in the novel, and then definitely give you credit in the acknowledgements. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up co-authoring and I'll offer to split the profits with you. I can play both male and female characters, and will more than likely play both. All I ask is that you do not force me to play one particular gender because you really wanted to play the other. I'm probably going to play characters of both genders anyway. Just don't open up a message to me with, "I want to play a female, can you play male?" Because the answer will be, "I mean, yeah, okay." But I won't be happy about it. :U Ah, and I don't care about mature content. I'm an adult, I can handle it, I promise. Probably. I'm also fine with any kind of pairing; mxf, mxm, fxf, or... any others I might not currently be aware of are all fine. They happen in real life; why not on the page?

The Timing

Sidebar: I like to ramble. Have you noticed? I also like conversations a lot, so don't be afraid to have a conversation with me OOC. Even if you want to drop the RP because it isn't interesting you anymore, I'm still more than happy to carry on a conversation with you. Interest comes and goes; I'm not fragile, and I won't mind too terribly if you lose yours. I can make no solid promises on "long term", mostly because who can really define that, anyway? "Long term" might be a month, or it might be four years. So: no promises from me on planning anything "long term". Want to RP for a week, then never speak again? k. Want to spend the next ten years plotting a riveting tale with twists at every turn and lore to make Tolkien drool? k. I'm pretty easygoing. Did you picked up on that yet? I'll try to respond at least once a day, likely more if you can keep me interested. I'm a student, and I work part-time. Also there are a lot of video games to play, and they aren't just going to play themselves. So I'm not online constantly. That said, if you think I've forgotten about you, just send me a gentle reminder. Something like, "Hey jerk, did you forget about me?" would do nicely. Did I mention I like writing? I don't have a limit on the number of RPs I'll take on, so send me a message any time and I'll happily work something out with you.

The Settings and Genres

Okay, okay: finally, here's a non-exhaustive list of various genres and settings I'm willing to RP in. Like I said earlier, though: I'll try anything. If you've got a plot you want to try out, lay it on me. If you've been craving something but you don't see it on my list, shoot me a message. Anything marked with a && has a plot to go with it (below), but of course we do not have to use that plot. I'll add to the list as I think of things. It's pretty sparse right now, admittedly. Also, you'll notice I didn't include anything like "human x angel" or "vampire x werewolf" or anything based solely on a pairing. I'm up for any pairing, so it seemed like a waste of time to list them out. This list is mostly about settings I'm willing to work in. Within these settings, I'll be happy to discuss any types of pairings you'd like to try. Medieval/Historical

Fantasy &&

this includes magic, elves, giants, dwarves, any other fantastical race; any combination of these, or anything else similar
this also includes any kind of alternate past, eg, one where witches were real and things like the Salem witch trials just pissed them off so they rose up and now rule humanity

Time travel :: eg, modern person thrown into past, person from past thrown into modern times
Modern

Supernatural :: Not the show; just like general supernatural stuff like vampires or demons or ghosts or this is really starting to sound like the show. You know what I mean.
College :: Not so much a "slice of life" thing, but I'm up for using the setting. Pitch me something interesting.
Superheroes/villians :: Like the Marvel or DC stuff. ...okay, that sounds uneducated; I'm actually quite a big fan of the MCU. I mean some kind of superhero organization, like Shield, or the Justice League, etc.
any kind of superpower thing, actually
Alternate Reality / Future

Zombie Apocalypse &&
Robot Apocalypse
...any kind of apocalypse, really
Rogue AI &&
Magic in our world :: I'm thinking more like elemental mages rather than wizards like in Harry Potter, but anything's fine, really. I'm a big HP fan, so god knows I'm not going to cut that out of the list of possibilities.
SPACE! :: Colonies on other planets, a ship carrying the last remnants of humanity, etc.
Fandom

Overwatch
Fallout
Dragon Age
Mass Effect
Skyrim

The Plots

Mostly these are brief synopses. If you want any more information, or want to discuss changes to any of them, or just want to know more, definitely let me know!
Versatile world, flexible races. Short version: one race decided it'd be a neat idea to take over the others, and did just that due to varying levels of civil war, drought and disease, infighting in regards to succession, and one missing princess in the other countries. Okay, there really aren't too many levels of a missing princess, and that's kind of where the story starts. She ran off many years before the conquest took over her homeland because she didn't think she was ready to rule, and of course that was why her own country was conquered much too easily. Through some convincing from her friends - and little by way of consent on her part - she is put in charge of a rebel army that aims to take back all countries from the invaders. I'll take the part of the princess and a few key advisors of sorts, and you can pick your part. Want to be a generic soldier? Want to be the enemy general? Want to be a fallen god with no memory of literally anything? It's up to you.

It's been a month since the outbreak. April is convinced she's the last person left on campus that has not been killed or zombified. So she sets out to gather some supplies so that she can travel to a rumored safehouse over 300 miles away in her hometown. Surprise! She isn't alone. Having spent the better part of the last month locked in her dorm room, she had neglected to discover that she was, in fact, not alone on campus. Teaming up with the few other survivors, she leads them on a magical journey of friendship through zombie-infested land to the safehouse. If, of course, you consider a trip through zombie-land with people you barely know as you all fight to survive another day in this wasteland to be a "magical journey of friendship". I'll take the part of April, and likely one other survivor, and you take the part of one or two or however many other survivors. There's a lot of fun to be had in character development during their journey, but 300 miles is a long way to walk (yup, walk). So at any point in their journey, we can jump ahead to them reaching the safehouse; at which point our characters get to realize why April never truly talked about herself, and why she knew about the safehouse in the first place.

The year is 26XX and humanity is spread far and wide amongst the cosmos. In fact, many colonies on far off worlds have warped humanity from its original appearance due to local gravity and/or fauna. Now, there are many sub-races, which is basically an excuse to say, "If you want to be an elf, guess what, there's a planet where the low gravity means humans are now tall and slender, and local fauna gave them access to magic and extended their lifespan to over 200+ years." Also, there's aliens, because why wouldn't there be? The point is: Earth is no longer humanity's home. It's a polluted, dried up wasteland, and no one travels there anymore. Organic life is living quite happily amongst the stars. There's some tentative research into AIs, but there are rather strict laws against it. No one wants a Skynet ordeal. The only kind of computer intelligence allowed are VIs - virtual intelligences which are basically like Siri or the Google Assistant or Cortana. Able to answer questions, retrieve information, and even synthesize responses, but no original thoughts or emotions or opinions of any kind. So it's kind of interesting that something claiming to be a true AI is slowly wiping out colonies across the galaxy. This AI calls herself "Syn", and has cheerfully informed all mortal beings that they are all going to die anyway, so why does it matter that she just happens to be speeding up the process? We'll take the roles of a few heroes that rise up to find Syn and take her down. Sidebar: I have a decent bit of lore to share on this one, if you're interested. This was the plot of a roleplaying/DnD campaign that I started with my friends before circumstances necessitated us stopping. I am more than happy to reopen this as a more DnD-type structured campaign, if you have a group and/or would like to find one. I'm an inexperienced GM, but am very much willing to learn.

The Closing

Regardless of any plans you do or don't have to contact me, I hope this finds you well, and I hope you have a wonderful day/night/etc. c: Cheers-
