It's a terrible idea (peeling off your own skin), and that was the whole point.

During the heatwaves in this country, wearing much clothing while in the house is somewhat suicidal in my eyes, even with an air conditioner. Not wearing shoes outside can be really bad in both cold weather or hot weather -- in the hot weather you can badly burn your feet on the concrete if it's particularly nasty.

Wouldn't it vary from house to house? Or are you talking about your story?
