Name: Sheolred Title/Alias: The Scarred, Sheol, Orchid Age: 17 Gender: Female Height: 5’11 Weight: 137 lbs Appearance: Powers: Scar Hex - Although she is still young and inexperienced, Sheolred is capable of carving scars into her body that becomes the source of her magic. Hexes come in a variety of powers and functions, however with their own specific drawbacks and limitations as well. Sheolred must carve each hex into her body, which is both physically and spiritually painful. As one may expect when you’re cutting into your flesh with a blade, if Sheolred isn’t strong enough in both her physical and magical strength, she’s liable to just wound or possibly even kill herself.
Evil Eyes - Sheolred’s main Hex. By making eye contact with her opponent she curses them with weakness. She can make them more susceptible to harm, less accurate in their attacks, sap their strength, and lower their abilities. Once Sheolred affects a target with her Evil Eyes she only needs to maintain a visual on them for the hex to stay, otherwise the curse would fade after a five minutes. Obviously doesn’t work on foes who are blind and thus do not rely on sight, though it can work through observational mediums like cameras and other spying equipment as long as someone is on the otherside watching. Scar Shield - Sheolred’s scars harden and grow over her body into a thick, leathery hide. She can currently use her hex for one hour per day, and while she doesn’t need to use it for the whole hour she must spend them for at a minimum of one-minute increments. Her scar shield is as tough as light kevlar armor, strong enough to dissipate the impact of small-caliber bullets, shrapnel, and light blades.
Patron - Not all of Sheolred’s magic powers come from herself. As a witch, she consorts with eldritch forces to grant her abilities and spells, and when she is worthy her patron will bless her with powers. Unfortunately right now Sheolred is still too young and too weak to gain the notice of any patrons, but they will be watching her for her growth. In time, they may reveal themselves to her and grant her their favor... Weapons: Volcanic Spear - Sheolred’s magic staff, tipped with a magical obsidian stone that she sharpened to a spear point. It’s lighter and still as sharp as a conventional metal spear, but the magic enhancement makes the brittle glass more capable of holding it’s edge. Witch Knife - A combination of a dagger and a holy symbol, if Sheolred ever gains patron spells she’ll need her knife to focus them instead of her staff. For now it’s little more than a fancy dagger made from some bone of a large creature. It can slice, it can dice, and Sheolred is pretty good at throwing it at people. Baseball Bat - When all else fails, Sheolred could just bash someone in the face with this. She has details and intricate carvings onto the business end with various hexes she wishes to obtain one day, but despite calling it her “Totem Club” it’s still just a mundane wooden baseball bat. It’s not pretty, but it is pretty effective. Light Crossbow - This quasi-gun is Sheol’s main range weapons during the few times she actually wants to engage in ranged combat. While it lacks the firing rate of modern guns and the penetration power of most rifles, it’s still strong enough to pierce through skulls and body armor, not to mention much quieter. Rather cumbersome to use however, if Sheolred doesn’t kill with the first shot, chances are she won’t bother with a second one. She can use this crossbow well with one hand. Equipment: Witch Cauldron - A small cast iron pot that Sheolred bought at a supermarket. Delightfully mundane on it’s own, but in Sheolred’s hand she can brew various potions and poisons with the right ingredients and time. Aside from the occasional business of fighting youkai, Sheolred makes most of her money by brewing and selling her alchemical crafts. She can make anything for quasi-magical molotovs, holy water, healing potions, and even love potions. Hex Mask - While the Witch Knife is needed to cast patron Spells, Sheolred needs her Hex Mask to use her hexes. The mask is her magic focus and allows her to channel her hexes that don’t target herself, such as her Evil Eye Hex. Without it the only hexes that Sheolred could use would be her Scar Shield. The Hex mask itself is magically enforced to be able to withstand blows much stronger than you’d expect a wooden mask to block, and it gets even more durable when Sheolred has her Scar Shield up. Should her mask ever be destroyed or lost, Sheolred can carve out another one and use a magic ritual to attune the new mask as her Hex Mask. Box Backpack - A large box that Sheolred carries on her back. It can open up like a cabinet to reveal various drawers, each one containing regents and ingredients for Sheolred’s potion brewing or the potions themselves. She has one large drawer meant to hold her personal things like extra clothing, fire starting tools, and other small misc things. Other: Sheolred is only occasionally a Chaser, knowing fully well that her skills and equipment doesn’t match up to some of the gear used by the more human Chasers. That being said she’d still participate in missions to gain valuable experience and to hone her skills. Otherwise she spends most of her time in a more supportive role making medicine and potions for other Chaser, for a price of course. She makes a pretty penny through her potion crafts as well as her other side business of running a catering business. Theme Song Sample Post/Introduction: ”Deep breaths, and focus… Deep breaths… Focus…” A girl girl chanted these words to herself as she stood, her back against a wall, looking around the corner at her first prey. Her first time out on a hunt. This girl had been on hunts with her mother many times before, and she learned much from her. But this time, this girl would hunt without her mother. Her crossbow in hand, loaded with a heavy bolt strong enough to pierce through a skull. But she only had one shot. One shot, and then she had to go on the attack. Her prey was not a weak herbivore or unaware vermin. Her foe was a fairly powerful, if common, youkai. A Gashadokuro; large skeletons brought about from those who died underneath the Crimson Sky without any rites. Not even so much as eaten by feral Youkai. Such restless spirits become a various type of ghosts, but Gashadokuro were particularly vicious. Giant skeletons between ten to fifteen meters, with some becoming as big as fifty. They weren’t particularly complex or magically inclined, but their bones were harder than steel and they were as strong as their giant size would indicate. And Sheolred would kill one. She looked around the corner and saw it growing from the ground. First it was just a few fingers, then it exploded into half a torso rising from the ground, towering over the buildings around it. This one had to be at least thirty meters tall! Sheolred didn’t hesitate to strike however. THis was her test; she couldn’t back out of it now. Slipping her mask over her face the scar on her arm glowed, causing her skin to thicken and scab all over her body. ”Tonight, Sheolred joins the hunt.” Jumping out from the corner Sheolred fired the crossbow bolt right into the back of the giant’s head. Sure enough the bolt was able to penetrate its thick skull, however it’s sheer size prevented her bolt from doing much harm anyways. But that didn’t bother Sheolred. Tossing her crossbow aside she ran through the alleyways, how being chased by the giant. It moved by dragging itself with it’s arms, it’s lower half connected only by its spine growing out of a blood-red cloud. It bashed away any obstacle that Sheolred herself had to acrobatics her way over, until it finally cornered her in a dead end. But it wasn’t an end for Sheolred. From the rooftops shadowy figures arose. Light and explosions echoed throughout the alleyway as other bombarded the Gashadokuro with magic and bullets. Despite bones made of steel, they tore apart under the rain of bullets, or turned to ash under conjured fire. Sheolred wasn’t going to let her allies do all the work however. When the Gashadokuro looked down at her, Sheolred met its gaze. Her eyes glowed with an occult energy, draining the giant skeleton of its strength. With naught but a stare, Sheolred watched as the mighty beast was taken down under the might of the Chasers.
