I am... very likely going to be out a-reveling at midnight on New Years, so while I appreciate the orderliness of the symbolism I'd say you're right, that's probably not going to work quite well.

I personally suggest sooner rather than later, as I'll be careful not to keep people held up and I'd like to get a post (or two, even, gasp!) out before the holidays start properly, but that's just me. I'm happy to go whichever way the wind blows on this one.
