[b]Appearance[/b]: Due to her ethnic background, Shin-ha has wavy, dark brown hair that looks black when not under light which she keeps short, the end of the longest strands falling just shy of the top of her shoulders. She takes after her mother in regards to facial features and lithe body structure. She has high cheekbones and an oval face that ends in a sharp and pointed chin, framed by short side-fringes that are just a little longer than the rest of her hair. Her fairly-even-but-jagged forehead fringe is parted to the left and stops just above her slightly arched eyebrows, high enough not to get into her eyes when she does vigorous activities, or merely tilts her head down. She has a straight nose, thin, firm lips that are faintly pink and a strong jawline, making her more handsome than pretty. Her eyes are gunmetal-blue, staring piercingly out from under heavy-lidded eyelids, giving her a consistently bored look, as though she is always a minute away from dozing off. Her usual outfits consists of sneakers, long-sleeved turtle necked shirts and slacks of blue, grey and purples.

As a yoga-enthusiast, she can add excellent flexibility and muscle control to her physical attributes. Due to her short height and legs, Shin-ha has gotten used to needing to keep pace with people with longer strides than her, thus, her steps are always brisk and purposeful. Not to mention, her posture is ramrod straight no matter if she sits or stands as she wishes to appear taller. Her height is something of a sore spot due to her family members all being a good few inches taller, and her refusal to wear uncomfortable heels just makes her all the smaller compared to her sisters and mother.

[b]Backstory[/b]: Nothing much can be said about Shin-ah besides the fact that she is the eldest daughter of the Song family, known in their local area for producing members who excel in a wide variety of chosen field, with not one member going into the same career as another. Her mother, Yona, is an elementary school teacher who married her engineer father, Soo-won. Incensed that their only child would lower himself to marry someone below his status, Soo-won's father refused to allow his son to inherit his fortune, writing him out of the will. He would have had Soo-won disowned was there a second son and not a daughter, but eventually had to settle for chasing him from his sight. Hence, Shin-ah's parents relocated to Yokohama, where she was born a year later. 

Although still a member of high Korean society by name, Shin-ah did not grow up amongst wealth originally entitled to one of her status. Instead, with the money in his account, Soo-won established a small mechanics shop catering to vehicles and engines of all kinds. As business steadily increased, Yona advised her husband to expand. When Shin-ah reached the age of eight, her family was doing much better for themselves than they had initially imagined, and Soo-won's sister and her own family was even starting to visit them in Japan. Two years later saw the arrival of her twin younger brothers, Jong-in and Jong-su, whom she absolutely adored. 

Years of bliss went by, and before she knew it, she was graduating from elementary school, and was offered a wide variety of high schools to choose from. She picked Issen High even if it was quite a distance away, but decided it was well worth waking up early because they had one of the best science labs available for students' use. It was during her sophomore year of Junior High that Soo-won's mother informed him of his father's passing and his reinstatement as the head of the Song Family. Soo-wno accepted the responsibilities that came with the title, but refused to return to Korea, not when he had established a great life in Yokohama, and achieved in providing a stable living enviornment for him and his family. Instead, he made his mother his proxy in Korea, with his younger sister taking over when his mother, too, passed.

Other than the odd family drama and bouts of mischief from her eight-year-old brothers, her life thus far has been pretty mundane, broken by the weekly lab experiments she opted to undertake in weekend cram school. With her great results in English and Japanese literature, chemistry and biology, her ambition is to be a microbiologist due to her interest with how different organisms work, and of course, maybe discovering more about the world at a molecular level along the way. After her first year in Senior High, she turned down the opportunity to run for a position on the Student Council as she was already busy with running an after-school tutoring session. 

Now in her last year of Senior High, her class - as well as a few other classes - celebrated the end of the year, conclusion of their finals and the approach of the holidays by going on a field trip to the countryside. Unfortunately, it was the last field trip she and a few others would ever experience in a world they grew up in, for on their way to the destination, a frak accident involving their bus and an oncoming train occurred.

Shin-ah has many different aspects to her personality. She is often serious, maintaining a bland expression which can turn into a sharp scowl if faced with something – or someone – she dislikes. As someone who does not like to be under the spotlight, she tries to appear bland and unassuming to make up for her brilliance in her studies. Her average looks, casual clothes that allows her to fade into the sea of youths around her age and mild-mannered speech all contribute greatly in making her seems like an ordinary, boring person. She can often be found in the library or quiet little corners and has the tendency to slip into her native Korean tongue when thoroughly aggravated, frustrated, or is in deep thought and musing aloud.

But unknown to mere acquaintances, she has a humorous side, often displayed in the form of dry or sarcastic comments, especially when hanging around the few people she fully trusts. People on that list includes her immediate family, a few select childhood friends, and a little old lady running the local bakery. Shin-ah only allows herself to be carefree, loud and active when in a place she feels safe, such as her home and her school's science clubroom. She is relatively caring in that while she doesn’t believe in sugar-coating the truth no matter how harsh it may be, she will break the news gently if that person is close to her, or is in visible distress, close to breaking down. 

Shin-ah is extremely practical, and strives to be a woman of sound moral principles, and would stand by them no matter what it cost her. She can be stubborn and hard-headed when she believes she is right, and refuses to be convinced otherwise unless the opponent manages to bring sound logic into the argument. Though she has a sharp tongue and has no problems in standing up to others when she is in a temper, Shin-ah is still the type of person who would give others a second chance when they had proven themselves worthy of it. She refrains from judging people by first impression alone, and usually reserves her opinion until she knows them better. While she might be a hard person to offend, she can't stand being belittled, and can get rather competitive, especially if that particular person proves rather challenging. Her temper is a slow simmering fire, not easily coerced to rearing up and retaliate, but the right trigger works like kerosene, making it explosive and abruptly, but dwindles down quickly. The right trigger? Threatening her younger siblings. The older ones can take care of themselves, but the younger were her responsibilities.
