Alexander closed his eyes as panic spiked through him. It was now or never, but the mere thought of trying to escape this den of strange creatures almost kept his feet from moving. The rattle of the chains as his guard bent to pick them up broke through his terror like the tolling bells that promised an imprisoned life of misery should he stay and do nothing. So, Alexander spun to the side and around the guard while she was still bent low and took off towards the closing door with as much speed as traction and leg power would allow. He barely managed to slip through the closing doorway. He darted to the right, in the direction Lilith had gone, hoping to not run into her but knowing that no exit existed at the other direction.
