And I'm certain Saul is an iron vault when it comes to secrets, even when he's hopped up on a multitude of drugs and booze. BUT THAT WAS THE PAST. It's no secret that Saul used to be a tragic fellow, though, so it totally makes sense that Jacob would want to confide in him, especially. Someone to look up to, you know? Even if he's still a little too close to falling off of his own cliff, but no one knows that part. And knowing that last bit would change Jacob's mind about the man, so we'll keep it secret... *Cough*
