Akoni took a moment to thank the mysterious ally they had on this mission as her holy fire burned away the flesh of the horror he had spent much time destroying. Once the task was complete, they began to move forward. Once they emerged into the study, Fiametta took instant notice of a particular book, but the old mage had already been drawn toward it. Fiametta's words went unanswered as Akoni's eyes drifted over the tome, his fingers ran along the spine. Memories of a time long since past resurfaced. He saw flashes of cultists, blood sacrifices, and pain. The searing heat had been, possibly, the most vivid memory. "I cannot be certain without first confirming the contents, but I believe a grimoire just like this was once in the possession of..." Akoni faltered and gave pause just a moment before speaking the word "family." They were no family. Not to him. That was so long ago it might as well have been eons, so why did he still struggle with that? "Some very bad people I was once familiar with." Breathing out a small sigh, the elder wizard mumbled a minor incantation and gestured upward with his middle and index finger on his left hand. The levitation spell took hold, causing the book to lift upward. Another incantation and his eyes glowed a bright blue for but a moment, then the book folded in on itself until it had vanished completely. It had not been destroyed, simply stored away. A minor spell for a wizard specializing in spacial warping. He then observed the rest of the study before joining his compatriots in the journey forward. Akoni steeled himself as the chapel door opened inward and a rush of supernatural fear flooded outward. This was nothing he had not experienced before--many supernatural beings generated this manner of aura. The trick was not appearing to be intimidated, and not letting these artificial emotions affect your judgment. So Akoni's eyes narrowed into a sterner appearance even as his heart began to race. He would face this new monster and slay it just as every other he had encountered.
