That might be fine with you and I support the idea up to a point, facing enemies more powerful then you. But when you have a fellow hunter cleave through 2 dozen enemies in 1 strike while you barely killed 3 through skill and tactical positioning, I just wanna throw up. All the fun is gone. So I either go for "equality in power" or more powerful otherwise it becomes boring. And with the dislevel present in this RP I opted to throw power levels away and make some hard-to-kill joker not interested in participating in fights himself.
I have a slight feeling that was directed to Emmerich. Hm... from where can I start? 1- Yes, I was the first one to post on the fight against the gnomes. I didn't have any lead about their martial prowess, their level, rank or anything like that, so I treated them like petty creatures whose danger lies in their number. (Ellion confirmed it later.) 2- Emmerich is throwing himself in the middle of them. If anything happens such as a goblin shooting an arrow, hidden in a bush or something like that, chances are that Emmerich will be hit. An even Emmerich will get tired and realize that keep fighting is useless if more gnomes keep coming. 3- He is still only a human. He is not doing any impossible feats, he is just bouncing and always moving around on the battlefield. "Oh, but if he is throwing himself like that, without caring for tactical positioning, he should have already been hit!" I ask you, what we do when all else fails? When plans go wrong, tactics prove useless, what do we do? The answer is instinct. We rely on our instincts. Sharp eyes, agile feet and a weapon that basically can strike anywhere around a 360 degrees around him contribute to make him pretty much untouchable. IF there was an heavy armored enemy, then things would be different. EDIT: Shai is powerful? Yes. she is. But she has a couple of very noticeable weaknesses. Once she is hurt, she is hurt. Her healing powers can sure save her, but they will require a considerable time and her being unconscious for them to work. "Oh, but she has a barrier made of cards!" Yeah... its not a dome. for some reason, people tend to think that its a dome around her. No. Its basically a wall. "B-but the dices..." They can be annoying, yes, but they aren't "flying giant swords" or something like that. Plus, she will refrain from entering useless fights and her moral compass is a rather big weakness. Actually, I can think in a different number of ways to kill her.
