His fur stood on end and his blue irises heated at the vampire’s very presence. On impulse, his black lips curled back to expose his canines farther. Every muscle became tensed and taunt against his fur until he felt ready to burst. Some invisible instinct drove him on to rid himself of this creature and a threat to his pack. Rage flowed through his very veins and warmed his very core, his intelligence dulled down to a signal focus point: Getting rid of Barron and protecting the others. Without much thought, his figure stepped in front of Skyler and blocked the young boy from view. Unnoticed by Benjamin, or likely any others, Skyler had crumbled to his knees and started to tremble in panic from the emotional trauma. The situation was quickly getting out hand and the inner beast knew it. His growl increased at the thought, the sound rumbled through his core. He crouched down into a ready lunge again as his snapped his teeth in response, chattering in anger. He jerked to leap at Barron when suddenly there was a rumbled and a wall sprung up. Shocked at the expected object, Ben’s paws gripped into the ground the moment his paws touched the ground. His figure barely screeched to a halt as his head whipped at Ji’s scream for Skyler to run. Confusion spread across the wolf’s muzzle and his eyes flipped back to the wall. Mentally, he was debated on his choice of flight or fight reflex before another grinding sound caught his attention. His eyes narrowed upon the wall’s surface when blood erupted from it. Ben jerked back in surprise and snarled in reaction. The limber arms spread and move about him as it rushed ahead, the wolf quickly realizing what was happened only seconds too late. Ben’s mind shouted at Ji to warn her, ‘No! Stop!’ Too late. Before he could stop himself, his paws were already on the move and rushing to her side to help. Blood crystallize and within moments solidified, separating the wolves (the efreet too) from Marie’s eyesight. They were trapped within a strange box like cage as Barron slowly emerged a few feet in front of Ben. A growl rippled through the pup’s chest at seeing the vampire’s cocky smirk followed by his insistence that he just wanted to help. Puffing himself up, Benjamin snorted in disbelief over the words uttered by the creature and resumed his growling. ‘Leave… NOW!’ Ben’s telepathy yelled within Barron’s mind, a sensation of childish and beastial temper. A small supernatural heat wafted through liquid and passed through the captives, but it was nothing compared to what came next. It was then Skyler’s situation become known to everyone. The boy’s inner struggle had been ignored in Ben’s single thought process as extreme heat, surpassing the temperature of the earlier wave, poured over one of the blood walls. The flame greedily licked up the form and began to devour it. Gradually it twisted into an unnatural color, black. Like a living thing, the fire roared across causing Ben to jerk away just to avoid getting burn. Meanwhile, a small whimper escaped Ben’s muzzle when he watched Skyler’s transformation. The boy’s small stubs extended into two fully grown horns, his skin paled, and voice changed from the usual timid tone he held. His one hand still held the flame in dark claws as he shouted his threat to Barron in guttural voice. Ben’s cautious telepathy poured into Skyler’s mind, his eyes stared deeply at the demon within their presence. Fear and confusion mingled with each other, but most of all the strongest emotion was worry. Images of Skyler passed from Ben’s mind to the now transformed boy, Ben’s mind having trouble drawing a connection to the name and figure that stood before him now, ‘Sky...S-Skyl...er? Hurt?’
