Cillian Weiss
— Feyhollow Town — “Thanks,” Cillian told Tora before turning towards the two Grass-type Pokemon in front of him. Chespin and Bulbasaur. The former was a bit newer, but the second definitely had more fame. Venusaur held less prestige than the legendary Fire-Flying dual that was Charizard, but Cillian still knew a fighter when he saw one, and this one was by no means as happy-go-lucky as his Charmander. “Scyther,” Cillian said, looking towards the Bug-type at his side — a typing that meant it held the advantage. However, that advantage would be useless if the Pokemon refused to cooperate — which the Pokemon didn’t seem like it wanted to do. Frowning, Cillian turned to Kelby. “Hey Kelbs, I know this is gonna be a hard battle for you, but you mind stepping in?” Cillian asked, looking down at the Mudkip. The Mudkip snorted, walking forwards with an air of confidence as the Scyther looked on in vague interest. A smile on his face, Cillian pointed at the two Grass-type Pokemon that were done waiting. “Kelby, Growl!” The Mudkip followed, leaning back on his heels and producing a sharp, rasping noise from his throat that caused the Grass-types to tense up as wariness crept into their gaze. “Follow up with a Foresight, and then Tackle on the Chespin!” Cillian shouted, knowing that his Pokemon had a limited number of moves to use. The Mudkip’s main attacks consisted of Water- and Ground-type moves, and neither of those would be of any use here. Kelby’s eyes glowed briefly before dimming and disappearing as he sprang forward into action, smashing into the Chespin. “Good, keep going! Tackle again!” Cillian shouted, keeping an eye on the Bulbasaur that was watching carefully, looking for an opening to strike as Kelby kept up the Tackles on the Chespin. “Protect!” Cillian shouted when the Chespin moved to retaliate. A deflected Vine Whip withdrew itself into the Chespin’s arms, and a final Tackle took the green-capped Pokemon down. “Good, now—” A Vine Whip from behind snapped down on the blue-and-orange Water-type, sending him reeling back. “Kelby!” Cillian shouted in alarm. The Mudkip hopped back onto his feet, eyes fierce. “All right. Tackle,” Cillian called, readying a Pokeball. Another smash and a beam or red light later, Cillian was picking up his fourth Pokemon. “Good job, Kelby,” Cillian said, rubbing the Mudkip’s head. Pawing at his trainer’s hands, the Mudkip sulked away with a haughty huff. Still, Cillian knew that beneath all that arrogance the Water-type was proud as well. Cillian looked towards the Scyther. The Bug-type immediately looked away with a mask of disinterest, and Cillian sighed and returned his Scyther before walking over to Tora. “Hey — the Venipede, right? Good job!” Cillian said, covering a yawn as he stretched his arms. “I’m beat, so let’s head back to the Center and crash for the night? Juana’s probably back there sleeping already,” he said, leading the way back while clipping his newly-filled Pokeball onto his belt. Fire-, Water-, and Grass-types all down. A Bug-Flying type as well. What next then? Cillian wondered to himself all the way until he fell asleep.
