Well, its a complex RP set in 2004 in which the coup against Gorbachev in 1985 SUCCEEDED, and they were able to bring the Soviet country status and financial problems to an end, thereby making it so that the Cold War never ended. Its going to also be SLIGHTLY like the A-Team I've already written an OOC, go ahead, look at it. You can apply even now, if you want. Oh, I should also say that this is high casual "EMBRACE DEMOCRACY, OR YOU WILL BE ERADICATED." - Liberty Prime, Fallout Three Welcome to Extraction Flare, an RP styled after the iconic A-Team, and heavily military oriented. Its slightly alternate history, so brush up! But any question, and go ahead, ask. The UN Inspector Corps, a fine example of a United peacekeeping force, and you're lucky to be part of it. Most of the time, its a cushy job, considering the current state of detente between the USSR and the NATO. The Antarctica unit sits around, plays cards, and gets medals for it. But thats not going to be the case anymore. The African Federation, headed by the Zambia Consul is growing aggressive. They're on the verge of attacking South Africa, and many claim that their Army size violates the 1996 Armed Forces Restriction Treaty. The Security Council is contemplating invoking the Leadership Removal Act, which would allow us to pick off the Consulate, and bring them before the the World Court. Are you ready to serve World Peace? Or will you opt out like a coward? State of the World The year is 2004, and the Cold War still envelopes the world in its grasp. But it isn't quite as bad as it used to be, due to the Second Detente created by the formation of the UN Inspector Corps in the 1996 along with the Armed Forces and Warhead Restrictions placed at the same time. Both US and Russia are hesitant to get into any sort of economical drain, considering how the US is suffering from a Recession, and Russia barely managed to save itself from economic collapse after the 1989 coup against Mikhail Gorbachev. The European Union is doing very well, and is currently following a lax version of the Communism Containment procedures of the earlier days, while also debating the inclusion of Turkey. The South Asian subcontinent is doing terribly, battling poverty on ridiculous levels while also striving to maintain peace between India and Pakistan. China is doing fabulously, and is currently the strongest nation in the Eastern hemisphere by far. Its long metaphorical hands reach everywhere, and its economy is hitting an all time high. Yet internal troubles brew for them. The Korean Unification Treaty Talks (KUTT) continue, to no avail, due to the continuous insistence of North Korea to be uncooperative until UN forces are removed from South Korea. Cuba is still being an uncooperative annoyance to the US, and Antarctica is Forever Alone, although that is changing. The Swiss stay Swiss, and everybody loves em like Raymond. Terrorism in general isn't taken as seriously in the US, due to the non-existence of 9/11, but in Russia, and its republics, its a serious threat. Technological Advancement Although this RP is set nearly a decade back, the technological level is just as high in some places, and higher in others, due to the continued arms race of the Cold War. Its not too high, due to the economic restrictions placed on both Blocs. Weapons designs are now increasingly becoming more "bullpup" in style, while the standard NATO 7.62x51mm is being replaced by the 5.56x45mm and the 6.8mm, two increasingly powerful calibers. Electric power creation is now depending less and less on coal and more on renewable energy sources like Solar and Nuclear power sources, although there is now a rise of anti-nuclear power organizations known to be funded by classic coal and oil magnates. Computers tech is becoming increasingly better, and Microsoft/Apple rule the markets, although Linux, as a software is entirely ignored. It is a shame, but Linux's time has not come yet. Medicine is doing well, but due to an increasingly money-oriented market, capitalistic companies are being enveloped in scandal after scandal, affecting the common man very badly, as medicine costs are going up, and many countries still do not have free healthcare. Space exploration is going well, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Andrew Hussie, a man revered as a savior of space sciences, thanks to his innovations in ion drives and VASIMR plasma engines, and his now well documented debates against the UN General Economics Council. A single man has made the space race go to new heights, and there is now a permanent international base on the moon. The African Federation The African Federation, a group of countries that were either part of the original founding countries, or assimilated through not-so-official means, is the world's current aggressor. It formed after 1991, when the freeing of many African countries from white apartheid threw them into chaos. It consists of the countries of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and most recently, Namibia. They are ruled by the Zambia Consul, a group of revolutionary figures, who are mostly Zambian or Zimbabwean in nationality. The Federation would appear to be loosely tied together, but is actually held under strict control of the Consulate, through application of a powerful military police, and weapons seized from the White government at the time of the revolutions. They also claim to have nuclear capability, which is debatable, but quite possible, thanks to the help of several nuclear specialists defecting from both West and East blocs selling themselves off. The Federations economy is actually really good, due to their vast mineral and diamond reserves, the trade of which has now become singularly the concern of the government, so is a good store/creator of money for the Federation. The United Nations The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization established on 24 October 1945 to promote international co-operation. A replacement for the ineffective League of Nations, the organization was created following the Second World War to prevent another such conflict. However, over time, the UN has become a major police force in the world, with a huge influence clout. Not much goes on in the world without the UN knowing, and fewer incidents still occur without the stepping in of the UN, thanks to a sudden influx of idealists into the UN official jobs. There are several principle organs that make up the UN, the main ones being the General Assembly (the main deliberative assembly); the Security Council (for deciding certain resolutions for peace and security); the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) (for promoting international economic and social co-operation and development); the Secretariat (for providing studies, information, and facilities needed by the UN); the International Court of Justice (the primary judicial organ); and the United Nations Trusteeship Council (inactive since 1994). UN System agencies include the World Bank Group, the World Health Organization, the World Food Programme, UNESCO, the Inspector Corps, and the UNICEF. Its current Headquarters is in Geneva, although the main HQ used to be in New York until the Soviets raised hell about "favoritism", but a base still resides there, like in all the major cities. The UN Inspector Corps The UN Inspector Corps, a peacekeeping measure instated in the 1996, to monitor war-capabilities and regulate it, as well as preserve peace around the world in general. They are considered the elite among the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces, and only the those with the best psychological and potential test result are chosen for the Corps. The main Inspector HQ is in McMurdo base in Antarctica, a lab generously donated by the US Science Foundation, although again, there are bases all over the world, though the most active ones are in Afghanistan and the Middle East in general, where counter-terrorist ops are constantly being run. The UN Inspectors use the NATO Standard Ranking System, which will be described in the end of the chart here RULLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEES! 1. Follow the Rules of RPing, as well described here 2. Post an example of your work. Doesn't matter how many paragraphs 3. Don't make terrible posts that are virtually unreadable. 4. Each post must be a paragraph long, at the VERY LEAST. Fill it up with character thoughts, or whatever you like 5. In the entire RP, you HAVE to make ONE reference to ANY fictional series. Whatever you like. (Actually optional) 6. It would be good if your character had a nickname. The A-Team had cool nicknames, so why not us? Suggestions So, for rule number 4. How d'ya expect to make good long posts? I'd recommend a collaborated post, through whatever means you want, like PM, or Google Docs. (Gotta love Google!) APPLICATIONS! WOO, YOU'RE NEARLY DONE! NO TL;DR'S THOUGH Name: Gender: Age: Height: Nationality: Appearance: Personality Background: (yes, I am aware that many hate doing this one part. I do too.)
