She shuddered, before reminding herself that this was the Pokemon that had just tried to kill two children. A horrified, grief-stricken cry sounded through the forest. The Sylveon struggled in Tommy's arms, trying and failing to shake off the paralysis, wailing at the sight of her closest friend's unmoving body. Even though Cici knew what would have happened if she and Tommy hadn't acted fast, she couldn't help wincing from a twinge of sympathy. At the sound, Ligeia and Cadence reappeared. They stared around them, then faced each other, Cadence's chirps carrying an undertone of anger as she glanced from the Sylveon to the corpse of the Shiinotic. "Kri-Kricketot-Kricket!" she said, starting to tremble, while Ligeia attempted to comfort her. "Hey... It really is all over now," Cici reassured her. Rationally, she knew this wasn't her fault, but that didn't stop her feeling awful about what her Pokemon had just experienced. She took a step, ending up on her hands and knees again. The little girl rushed to help, nearly falling over herself. "I'll be alright," Cici said, grasping onto a tree, picking up a fallen branch to use as a walking stick. "We all will." Ligeia rested one of her tiny little arms against Cadence's back, taking a glance at the Sylveon. She knew about her from the other fairies, knew how badly a Pokemon who evolved through affection could snap after being abandoned by a trainer. She recalled hearing about the Shiinotic having found her close to death from her lack of will to even eat. As a fairy herself, Ligeia knew that many inhabitants of the forest liked to make deals - and how vengeful some fey could be. The terms had been simple: the Shiinotic would help the Sylveon get revenge against her trainer, as long as she assisted her in the future. According to some Pokemon, the Sylveon had once been reluctant to bring her victims, but her need for the Shiinotic's friendship and her grudge against humans had won out. Ligeia's sympathy, though, was ultimately for Cadence, rather than anyone who had helped the Shiinotic for any reason. She knew exactly what Cadence had said to the Sylveon - "That's what it's like to lose loved ones." Cadence shivered as her worst memory replayed through her head. Her mother, telling her to get away. Injured and exhausted, that was all the little bug had been able to do, leave the still forms of her brother and sister behind her as the Kricketune had succumbed to the spores and draining attacks. If she hadn't met and befriended the Igglybuff, she didn't know how she'd have coped. And just now, she'd nearly lost her trainer to that same Shiinotic. But she was unable to tell Cici any of this. "You two should rest now," Cici said, her voice weak. "It's, uh, certainly been an eventful night." Watching them hop back into their Pokeballs, she wondered if she'd made right suggestion - could Ligeia use Heal Bell? It wouldn't have been a good idea, the trainer decided. Healing Tommy would also have meant healing an incredibly distressed, angry Sylveon, and she'd seen the kind of damage it could do. She staggered alongside Tommy, the two children following. It was probably best just to get back to town as quickly as possible.
