What we're also forgetting is that the story didn't die with Monty. Many on the writing staff have said Monty laid out the story for them and honestly that makes sense. The writers aren't there to awe and surprise, they're there to help shape the story and decide how they want the direction to go. Keeping secrets among them would be idiotic and frankly hard to work with. (I mean, we do that but we're not running a single plot line for a separate audience. We have subplot after subplot where each of us are the head writers and the others are both co-writers and the audience.) My opinion (feel free to agree or disagree): Had Monty not unfortunately passed, the show would still be introducing and expanding on these ideas we don’t care for. Only real difference is the combat and animation wouldn't have dropped at all.
