Well it doesn't look like you'd need particularly good boats for regular intercontinental travel, though it does mean those islands between the continents would be some prime real estate I'd imagine.

Oh, and I have a question [@Darkspleen]. What do you imagine the geography of your nation being? Since I was planning on going with tropics/desert for the portion I occupy.
