I honestly had a blast, and while the Combat can be very fun sometimes... There are battles where I can just block and counter attack and do just fine. It is Rhythm based.

Also, When with daggers, if you want to see something funny, lock on, and hold backwards and attack. It is hilarious. 

I thought the Final boss was perfect... and dare I say better than Kefka? 

I'm glad I was hesitant. Because it means I could appreciate more by it's own Merits. Noctis is easily one of the most human FF protagonist in a while. So I was very glad of that. 

I won't spoil anything. I was just blown away about all they got right. But there is room for improvement, and Tabata said free patches will improve the story, lines, and quest. As well as to flesh things out, and I'm glad.
I like when a developer wants to improve their product.

They could never have done this in the ps3 era. But I'm glad developers are taking advantage of this era's tech.

And... Noctis counts as a Freelancer. Strong in variety.
