The Alex was perfectly capable of space combat. It's essentially a flat upgrade to the RX-78-2 built specifically for Amuro for the final stages of the war ... in space. The Ground Gundams of 08th MS though [I]were[/I] produced for land-usage, but given that they're basically built out of V-Project spare parts, they could be rejiggered easily for space use. The Rick Doms were pretty much Doms in the end, after all.

Uraki was from 0083, which was post-war.

So I guess our unit wouldn't be fighting in any capacity against Kycilia's Newtype Corps?
