He does his best to uphold a polite and chivalrous demeanor, though his anxiety and aversion to any form of conflict usually lead him to be quite soft spoken and shy in almost any given situation. His renown as a prodigal Arithmancer and genius of his time, as well as his direct blood relation to the Archbishop, draw a lot of unwanted attention to the meek man. Try as he may to act modest, there is no denying that Ignis is deserving of his recognition in the fields of Arithmancy. He possesses a keen intellect with a logical mind that is no stranger to comprehending complex concepts and solving equations beyond the capabilities of any ordinary man. Though with status comes responsibility, something he is not quite fond of. The pressure to succeed and his own inability to face his failures has directly caused Ignis to become a very standoffish and irrationally fearful person. His magic is the only thing he really cherishes; so much so that he submissively follows every order of the Librarium out of the fear that they one day take his right to Magic away as they once did the Sky Pirates. “I don't really 'get' people. Now, numbers and equations I understand. People, however, are an enigma.”
Name:
Barthandelous, Ignis
| Alias|Nickames|Titles: |
None
G e n d er:
Male
R a n k:
B Rank
Age:
26
Sector :
Library Hunter
History:
Once a prodigal student of the Capital Judea's School of Arithmancy, Ignis was highly renowned for his ability to comprehend the intricate nuances of Arithmancy faster than all others in his generation. At the rate he was learning, it was predicted he would reach the Master level by the time he was in his mid thirties. He performed so phenomenally well in all of his studious endeavors that eventually a high performance was always expected from him. The nephew of the Archbishop and a young genius, there was certainly a lot of weight riding on his shoulders. Unfortunately, he would eventually be crushed by it. The details of Ignis' nervous breakdown are scarce, though it is believed that he just simply couldn't handle the pressure that was thrust upon him. For reasons he made unknown to all but his closest loved ones, Ignis dropped out of the School of Arithmancy and joined the Library Hunters.
Magic:
Arithmancy: The study of ancient numeracy and the magical geometry needed to create Magic Circles. Through dedicated study and a keen mind capable of understanding complex equations, Arithmancers have very much established themselves in Pandora as Magical Scientists. Through Arithmancy, the caster is able to draw and re-create magic circles varying in intricacy in order to conjure up the most basic forms of other Magics. While a far cry from the potential one mage would have in specialising said Magic, Arithmancers sacrifice power for versatility. Additionally, the art of Invocation was also born under the Arithmancers. By combining aspects of Circles relating to different Magics, Arithmancers are capable of fusing together magics into new and more powerful combinations. It is theorised that through Arithmancy, any Magic that has ever existed can be recreated. Though the dedication and knowledge needed to perform even the most basic conjurations means that it may be many centuries before an Arithmancer with such ability appears.
Miscs :
Ignis wields an Arithmancer Tome and Aetherquill. The Tome is filled with base templates of Magic Circles already pre-drawn to allow Ignis to fashion spells much faster than if he was working from scratch. The Aetherquill is a special writing utensil that uses a very scarce, unnoticable amount of the wielders magic power to be able to write. Ignis has a photographic memory, able to memorize everything he sees with intricate detail. His ability to adapt and go wherever the wind takes him has made him quite the resilient young man capable of handling a plethora of sticky situations. He has taken to the pirate lifestyle like a moth to a flame, doing whatever he pleases without remorse. He holds quite a sour grudge against the Librarium and is noticeably crueler when dealing with anyone within it's ranks. Theodore is not the most friendly person you'll meet. He's quite dismissive of others in a rather arrogant manner, as if their not worth his time. He's not above using cheap tricks to get what he wants, not holding any concept of honour when it comes to battle. He has been known to be quite eager in participating in missions that involve sabotaging the Librarium. Though his interests are less about helping those in need and more so about being able to personally wreak havoc among the Librarium at whatever chance he gets. “Order and peace? Their childhood was spent eagerly being trained to uphold the family legacy. Whilst Theodore once showed promise in his venture to Knighthood, his integration into the system caused him to see the unflattering truth of the matter. The Knights, an institution he believed were meant to bring peace, were the cause of so much suffering across Pandora. Theodore began to rebel against the future his father had planned for him and his sister. He questioned every order, shed light upon every inconsistency and worked tirelessly to expose the Librarium. His voice was but a drop in a limitless ocean. As well as making a fool of himself, he had also brought shame to his family. Though his plight would not stop there. If he could not expose the machine, then he would help dismantle it. As far as he was concerned, his family were sheep enslaved by the system. Theodore began to work with underground pirate groups to cause mayhem for the Librarium at every turn. Eventually their group would go from harmless acts of vandalism and theft to more radical extremes to get their message across. Theodore became involved in a terrorist plot that would take everything he had known from him. The events of their attack are mostly unknown, with all records mysteriously omitted and no witnesses despite the scale of the event. Though one thing was made certain to Theodore after the attack; he needed to disappear. Escaping with a group of Rogue Pirates, Theodore took to the skies without looking back at the life he left behind. As time went on, he would come to outgrow the Rogue Pirates he had fled with; departing from them before settling in York.
Magic:
Lancer Magic: Relatively simple Holder Magic that involves the magical enhancement of polearms to various effects. Despite being quite an orthodox magic, it's skill is largely dependent on one being proficient with any lance, spear or glaive type weapon to be effective. Theodore's style revolves heavily around large sweeping movements and strong leaps to evade and out-maneuver foes before going in for relatively safe strikes with his glaive. This acrobatic Lancer Style is an ancient art, one that belonged to fearsome warriors who used it to take Dragon's down from the sky to be finished off by their allies. Though the Dragon's are gone, this style is still practiced among Cleric Knights to this day.
Dragon Strike: Magically enhanced strike. Fundamentally simple and used to accompany most if not all strikes.
Slumbering Dragon Strike: Gathers magic power in the tip of the spear at the moment precisely before striking. Causes Theodore to pause very briefly, resulting in a slower yet harder hitting Dragon Strike. Also applies a 'Dragon Mark' to the foe. Up to 10 marks can be applied. Dragon's Rage: Delivers a heavy piercing attack that detonates all Dragon Mark's, resulting in minor to massive damage depending on how many marks were applied before use. If all 10 marks are erupted, Theodore restores a significant amount of Magic Power to himself.
Scale Piercer: A magically empowered pierce that is capable of dealing heavy damage to magical and physical defenses. The attack is considerably slower than Theodore's regular movements. Additionally, the Scale Piercer's force is projected through the target to one additional person behind them. Any Dragon Mark's currently afflicting the original target are also passed onto the secondary. Javelin Toss: Hurls the magically empowered Spear with tremendous force, capable of piercing several targets before being magically recalled to Theodore's hand.
Mirage Thruster: Redirects the course of the Javelin mid flight. Can only be used once per Javelin Toss.
Charge: Magically empowered spear rush that charges Theodore forward in the direction he faces a considerable distance. Anything caught in the charge is pierced and dragged along until the Charge ends, at which point they are violently thrown off. Can also be used to ascend into the sky or descend down to the earth. Vault: Magically empowered pole vault that sends Theodore flying great distances. Can be used to escape, chase down fleeing opponents or reach targets that are high in the sky.
Take Over - Hero Soul: Take Over Magic that allows the wielder to take on the form of long lost heroes of legend. In taking on the form of these powerful beings, the wielder is able to use any magic they possessed as well as retains any skills they held. Hero Soul functions differently from regular Take Over magic. Because the forms they take are that of deceased heroes, Take Overs are not obtained through defeating a being and absorbing their power. Instead each legendary Hero is bound to a Relic. Rare and powerful artifacts, highly sought after by collectors and mages alike, Relics hold a semblance of the power once used by the hero that possessed them. The exact details on how a being becomes recognised as a Hero are unclear, though there are a large handful of Relics scattered across Pandora and the world alike. Unfortunately because of the unique way Take Over: Hero Soul is acquired, mages who wield it can never have access to more than one Take Over at a time. In absorbing the power of a Relic, the mage is latching the Essence of a Hero to their Soul in a method referred to as a 'Soul Bind'. In order to learn a new Take Over, the Mage must relinquish the bond between the Hero Essence and their Soul; returning it to the Relic from which they once received it. Though because of this discrepancy, it has been noted that at full potential a Hero Soul has the ability to reach incredible levels of power comparable to the original being who wielded them.
The Nameless Hero, The Storm Rider, The Friend of Dragon's

"From high above the carnage of the battlefield, the shadow of storm clouds cascaded us in darkness before we heard the thunderous roar of the winged beast. When we gazed up upon it's magnificence, there he stood; riding the storm as if it were his own personal pet." The Nameless Hero, rightly anointed so by historians who show a keen interest in the time before the War of Faiths. For you see, not much is known of him compared to the other Heroes of Legend. There are no bards who recite songs of his praises, no statues built in remembrance of his deeds and no recollection of his name ever written down in any history book. Truly, the Old Dragon King is an enigma. Those who know of him are few and far between; descendants of those who knew him centuries ago who had passed down tales of his legend from generation to generation. The Old Dragon King was not a hero of man, but a hero of Dragons. For reasons unknown, he thought tirelessly to protect the Dragons from the Librarium who sought to eradicate them. He was present among the War of Faiths, with an old folk tale surrounding him claiming that he soared high above the battlefield on the back of a Dragon. Yet despite his most valiant efforts, his mission would ultimately fail. The direct cause of his death is unknown, but shortly afterwards the Dragon's were hunted to extinction. Through Take Over: Hero Soul, Theodore is able to assume the form and abilities of the Old Dragon King. Though his control over such power is rather limited, only being able to transform his arms currently. The Old Dragon King is a master of his mighty glaive, a weapon that allowed him to reach his foes whilst riding on the back of a Dragon. The Old Dragon King earned his name as the Storm Rider for his control over weather related Magics such as Wind and Lightning. With his presence came large thunderstorms and intense winds that churned around him at his command. It was said that he would rip the lightning from the skies and hurl it at his enemies as a mighty spear. Additionally, the Old Dragon King was bestowed an artifact of great power by the Dragons. An ancient chime that when tolled would reach the ears of his faithful Dragon steed, Coaxoch. Even though he is still in possession of the chime, the Dragon's are extinct now and the toll of the bell is met only with silence.
Partial Take-Over:
Storm Spear: Generates lightning around the casters hand in the form of a mighty spear before hurling it at the opponent at near untraceable speed.
Crash Spear: Creates a Storm Spear that is thrown directly towards the earth, releasing a large shockwave of lightning in the immediate area.
Lightning Glaive: Empowers the Old Dragon King's glaive with lightning magic, increasing it's deadliness. Gale: Releases a wave of violent, churning winds that sends foes tumbling away.
Ravage: A more compact version of Gale, releasing a cutting orb of wind in a single direction. A versatile spell that can accompany various melee strikes.

Full Take Over [LOCKED]
Enhanced Physical Ability: In his Full Take Over form, the Old Dragon King has increased strength, speed, stamina and durability. Storm King: The Old Dragon King's magic presence was so tremendous, that he brought large thunderstorms with him wherever he went. Theodore's Take Over possesses this ability on a lesser scale, summoning forth overcast rain clouds to his vicinity. Windsteed: Strong currents of wind carry the Old Dragon King through the skies for a brief moment, allowing quick movement in battle. Turbulence: Creates two wind barriers. The inner barrier is a strong shield of wind that surrounds the caster only while they remain stationary. It is capable of withstanding heavy punishment before breaking. Additionally, the outer barrier acts as a persistent effect that drains magic over the duration. Causes the trajectory of all incoming projectiles to be altered in a way so that they veer off course slightly. Eye of the Storm: Creates a turbulent hurricane around the Old Dragon King and his enemies, creating an arena of wind that makes escape incredibly difficult. True Storm Spear: Raising his glaive into the sky, the Old Dragon King calls down a mighty bolt of lightning from the storm clouds above. The bolt deals heavy damage and moves at blinding speeds once cast. True Storm Spear can only be used while outside, as the bolt has to come directly from the sky above.
Storm Barrage: Casts a variation of True Storm Spear that calls down several smaller bolts of lightning across a wider area, rather than a single powerful one.
Lightning Rush: A spear charge that sends the Old Dragon King rushing forth in any direction with a powerful, enhanced pierce. Storm King's Tribute: While his glaive is enhanced with storm magic, the Old Dragon King is able to release a powerful burst of lightning in the form of a devastating piercing attack. The Storm King's Tribute is a slow strike, but one that can turn the tides of a fight if a foe is hit directly. After receiving massive damage, the victim is also briefly paralyzed by the sheer voltage of electricity coursing through them. The Old Dragon King Take Over ends once Storm King's Tribute is used, as it requires an exponentially high amount of Magic to use.

Miscs :
Theodore wields a standard issue lance.
