Why the illusory black aura and red eyes? Does a cloud of darkness manifest around her or something? So the aim is to induce fear in a foe, correct? Is this something that applies directly, or is it something that arises from the illusion that the semblance manifests? If the former, having the illusion seems redundant, and also disconnected from the power itself - even though they're traits of Grimm, they wouldn't be scary to everyone and would only seem unfitting. If the latter, why red eyes and the black aura? Is it sight-based? If somebody were to look away or close their eyes, would it work? How does the illusion create fear in others? Why would it? What if someone really loves black and red? How would it be different from directly affecting someone's mind, or forcing them to hallucinate their greatest fears?
That's a lot of questions O.O Well, let's get to answering them: The illusion is basically a "visual indicator" of the semblance being active and yes, it is sight based, but you can't just turn away once you see it being activated. Once you get a glimpse of it, you are pretty much locked into staring at it. It doesn't last long, though, just a couple of seconds, like 10-15 seconds, but it is enough to at least temporarily stun opponents, when they are of a particularly strong mind. The illusion is not the actual "scary thing". You get scared, no matter how un-scary such an illusion is to you. The illusion instills the feeling of primal fear in you. It doesn't matter if you like black and red or that you technically think that it isn't scary, your brain will still think that it is scary. (Which will create an interesting conflict in your mind... O.O You personally don't think what you are seeing is scary, but your body reacts as if it was scared for its life) The obvious weaknesses that go with it are that Grimm and Robots are pretty much immune to it, as Nyanya-chan has already pointed out. And if you know when Blaire is about to "cast" her semblance, you can close your eyes and avoid it, but if you are just a single millisecond to late and catch a glimpse of the illusion, your eyes are going to be forced open and focused on the illusion for the duration of the semblance. I think, you could also use the semblance to basically control somebody, aka hypnosis, but you have to be especially weak-minded.
