His mother died during childbirth and the father couldn’t bear raising his son without his wife. He transferred custody of Dawson to his grandparent and moved on. They never told their grandson this information until his teenage years, but he always knew something wasn’t right. He moved to Bainbridge Island and lived a peaceful life. Other family members often came over and helped out the grandparents. In his later years in middle school, the grandma had a stroke and later died on the way to the hospital. Dawson questioned his real parents and wanted answers. The grandpa told the truth about his mother and how his father left him behind. The last time that he heard from his father was six years ago. He just said that he was married and planned on moving to Europe. Dawson wanted to talk to his father, but he knew that it was impossible. He tried to move on forward by studying on his favorite subject, English. He wanted to become a writer and an English teacher. After high school ended, he was accepted to Seattle University. However, he chose to stay in Bainbridge at his grandparents’ house after his grandpa died peacefully since it was cheaper. And it only took a half hour to get to Settle by using the ferry.
