His upbringing was one of violence and fear as his elder brother, Gregor, terrorized and permanently scarred his younger brother by forcing his head into a lit brazier. Sandor's father purposefully covered up Gregor's violent acts and personality in order to remain in favor with his liege Lord and court. After his brother was knighted Sandor became dissilusioned with the entire concept of Knighthood, believing an 'honorable warrior' to be a contradiction, his brother proof of this. Sandor himself refused Knighthood more than once as he, like his brother, became a trained soldier in service to house Lannister. In fact, Sandor's seeming loyalty to the house and willingness to serve earned him the moniker of 'The Hound', a nickname he embraced by having his helm shaped into a snarling dog. He would continue to serve House Lannister as Soldier and bodyguard until the War of the Five Kings. Although remaining a Loyal bodyguard to King Joffrey and even joining the Kingsguard(bthough still refusing Knighthood) he refused to indulge the cruel boys violent outbursts, especially in regards to Sansa Stark. He refused to harm the girl in any way, unlike the Knights on the Kingsguard and even protected her several times, including saving her life from a group of rapists during a riot. Indeed, despite everything it could be said that Sandor Clegane cared for Sansa, certainly far more than Joffrey or Cersei during her time in Kings Landing. During the siege of Kings Landing by Lord Stannis Baratheon Sandor Clegane finally abandoned his duty as bodyguard to the King, choosing to flee from the field after dealing with more fire than he could stomach. Before Leaving he stopped at Sansa Starks quarters, and offered to take her back to Winterfell to her family. Unfourtanetly, Sansa was still afraid of him and in his drunken state he had her sing a song for him. It is possible if Sansa is to be believed that he then kissed her before departing for the north. After a number of adventures involving Arya Stark and the Bortherhood without Banners Sandor attempted to leave the way of the sword but was unable too. Joining up with the Brotherhood without Banners, Sandor helped to fight in the Long Dark, fully expecting to die against the White walkers. He was fortunate enough not to. Afterwards Sandor decided to make good on his word. He sought out Sansa Stark, and again offered to protect her as he had that night in Kings Landing. This time Sansa Stark, tempered with age and experience now realized how it had been Sandor who protected her and cared for her when all else around her had sought to harm her. He was her only friend and companion in this time, and she knew he would give his life for her. And so, the Hound would protect the Little bird once more, until the end of his days. In the years since Sandor Clegane has not left Sansa's presence except on her request, devoted to protecting her as he once was to King Joffrey. Under the Same token he protects her children and husband, Tyrion Lannister. Sandor and the Imp had never been enemies nor friends before, but a certain respect grew between them in the years as they aged. Jaime Lannister was always a ponce to Sandor, a good fighter but a ponce nonetheless. As Jaime has changed so has Sandor's opinion of him, finding more to respect than he ever had in the past. Sandor himself has changed over the years. With little in the way of war and without the savage, oppressive and violent rule of the old Lannisters much of his old anger and hate has faded, especially with the death of his brother... even though he to this day wishes he had been the one to put the monster down. He is still blunt, rude and direct but has lost much of his cruelty, especially spending so much time with Sansa whom he still call 'Littel Bird'. He even in the intervening years had a son, a bastard of some unknown whore. It is perhaps only with his son that you can see some of the old, harsh Sandor Clegane anymore.

[sub] P R O F F E S S I O N [/sub]

Bodyguard, Soldier

[sub] E Q U I P M E N T [/sub]

[sub] S K I L L S [/sub]

In spite of his age Sandor Clegane is still a capable Warrior and quite strong. Although no where near as fast or fluid as he used to be he can still crush lesser men in personal combat and has continued to train as he has aged.

notes: Sandor has a 14 year old son named Petyr Hill, a bastard of an unknown mother(Sheet to come). He is sometimes called 'The pup' much to his chagrin.
