"Thank him," Riley said, jerking his head to the doorway from which the vampire child just exited. "You two are connected, a pairing. Your regenerative power is shared between you. The closer you are, the stronger it is. I got him to stick around; without that, your arm probably would have gone necrotic." He ignored Izzy's first question, instead focusing on Trevor's parents. "I called an ambulance- with one of their phones, of course -and had 'em picked up. They ought to be okay in a bit." He seated himself, and continued on. "Let me just put this out here: there is no 'we' working on this. Not anymore. Your power is nowhere close to where it was as a vampire, and frankly the White Wolf is completely out of your league. What little regenerative power you do have is neutralized by the White Wolf's very nature. 'Energy drain,' an effect very much like vampirism. Only the Wolf doesn't inflict it with a bite; he can use it on you just by touching you. Wherever he touches, it kills any of your remaining power. It's honestly the perfect counter."
