A C I T Y O N F I R E

Match City 11:30 PM EST The streets are blanketed with artificial light, enough to confuse some of the residing nocturnal creatures int believing it to be day, confining them still to that shadows. An orange glow overtakes most everything, reflecting off of slumbering vehicles and the eyes of stray felines keeping watch over their territory. The city is alive, burning brightly in every sector, yet shutting its eyes against the glare. Sleeping. A chilling winter wind slips around the muted buildings like a stream flowing over fingers, continuous but segmented apart from itself. The city breaths. These are the constants between every sector of Match, though each of them deal with the city's slumber in drastically varying style. In the first sector, a young woman in a shawl hurries down the street. On her right side, she passes the shadows of numerous saplings, creating patterns over her legs. They are still new, the cement smooth and uncompromised by time beneath her feet. On her left side, a waist high hedge separates her from the nearby park. She stares at the ground, clutching a bouquet of flowers to he chest. Guilt weighs heavily on her, heavier than she thought it would. Yet still, she nearly crushes the flowers in her tightening grip, it had to be done. In the second sector, a forgotten streetlight has gone out. Years ago, this darkened corner would quickly become the host of many nefarious acts. Now, however, it is left alone until a city worker is available to fix it. Even the dark isn't safe for the cruel now, the rodents digging their holes deeper. Further into the heart of the sector, a building is marked for demolition, the metal sign glinting orange like the surrounding atmosphere. Voices are heard from inside, five men speaking in whispers hushed by fear. Dark eyes flit about again and again, tense bodies wound tighter and tighter. They're fewer than they've ever been, they're terrified. Yet, they plot. They are sharks, unwilling to stop hunting the scent of blood, even when it is their own. In sector three, the rich rest. Their houses stand as slain giants, hollowed out for those who put no sweat into the slaying. The windows are dark, the security tight. And for those who have no castle to rest in, a glittering hotel shines brightly against the oppressing night. The King's Reprieve is the elite sector's glamorous pride, their jewel. A hated businessman flees from his fortress home, checking in to avoid the peril that threatens from every corner. The fourth sector is much quieter than any of the rest. A father carries his sleeping daughter down a residential street, her head tucked into his shoulder. She had been playing a a friend's house late into the night and they were now returning home. In the past, families would have been nervous walking down the midnight street alone, but that was years ago and now the man worries about nothing more than getting home and getting some rest. He kisses her crown while unlocking the door to their home, their happy life protected by murders. As for the final sector, people still slink down the streets, pull their hoods up against the rain and the fear. It glitters even brighter here, the center of Match alive with lit buildings and signs. The business sector flourishes, the only area still fully awake. Down an innocuous street named Gilles Avenue, a bar is still eagerly devouring passing addicts and feeding them their poison. A darkness hovers over every part of this sector, tainting every last action.
Welcome to Match City, home to your new community of assassins. Your stay here will be severely different depending on the sector you choose to reside in and what name you decide to make for yourself. Match City is under new management, finding cleaner streets and different levels at one simple price: The city is overrun by five separate assassin groups. You'll hear their names whispered around any corner, Belladonna, Avia, Royals, Familia and The Black Cats, yet many refuse to believe they are anything beyond rumors invented to explain why a dying city somehow managed to pull itself back from the brink and begin to thrive again. Still, the groups are undeniably true, the murderers within them thriving in the varying environments of various sectors. Whatever has brought you into this town and whichever district you live in, you have dove head first into the snake's den, becoming a snake yourself. You are an assassin within one of these five organizations and your goal is to do whatever it is benefits your group, yourself or the sector you call home while abiding by the code of your faction. Welcome to the murder club, buddy. Your hands are about to get dirty.
Note: These will be intentionally vague. There will be more information given for those who actually decide to join a group.
Belladonna
Belladonna is an assassin group located within the first sector off Match City, also known as the Park District. Many leisure activities are located here and gardens are abundant thanks to actions put forth by the city only a few years ago. Belladonna seems to have no discriminant for the types of bodies they drop, implying that they are traditional in taking on any hit with the proper price. The people within this group are known by plant themed code names and poison is a favorite for these killers (though they have been known to stray to other methods). They use their own code through plants and flowers to contract their hits or communicate other necessary information. The people of this district both fear and respect Belladonna. Overall goal: Survive and thrive. Status: Two slots available! Color= darkseagreen
Avia
Avia is the assassin group currently residing within Match's second sector, what was formerly the most crime ridden district in the whole city. They are led by the mysterious Kestrel and codenames are based off of types of birds. The sorts of bodies dropped seem to be purely criminals and wrong-doers, but with a brutal sort of violence to the kills. There doesn't appear to be any clear method linking the assassins together, anything to get the job done. The people of this sector show admiration to Avia, viewing them as saviors and protectors of their previously scum-filled district. Overall goal: Keep their sector clean, use their darkness for good. Status: One slot available! Color= lightsteelblue
Royals
The Royals are an assassin group ruling over the third sector of Match, commonly referred to as the Rich District. They appear to prey upon the corrupt diplomats and higher risk targets than the other groups. Though it is almost just as common to see a completely innocent official dead due to a great price. They refer to one another under pseudonyms based off of chess pieces, lead by either a Black or White King (regardless of gender). Silenced guns are the preferred weapon amongst their ranks, but not particularly required. The people of this sector spend enormous amounts of money to keep themselves protected from the cruel reign of this group, despising them and insisting that the police do something about all these killers. Overall goal: Power and control Status: Two slots available! Color= gold
Familia
Situated within the fourth district of the City of Match, Familia is quite possibly the most well liked of all the assassin groups. They are well known for their bedside manor and their intended targets are the kind that everyone is willing to see gunned down. Familia focuses on the abusers, the rapists and the killers. They focus on victims who have been harmed and go to them first, tending to them and making sure that their vengeance is wrought. Poison and pistols are their main focus in weapons. This is a tightly knit group and if you mess with one, you mess with all. Not a single member of Familia is unfamiliar with another member, everyone knowing and watching out for their family. Code names are based off of tarot cards, with their leader as The Empress. Note: Familia's funding is limited to clients that insist on giving rewards, they do not ask for one themselves, so a day job may be necessary. Overall goal: Protect and serve those who have been hurt Status: Two slots available! Color= hotpink
Black Cats
The black cats are located in the final sector that takes up the center of the entire city, where the businesses are located. This group seems to resemble a mafia much more than an organized guild of assassins. Rumors have been heard about a myriad of border skirmishes with other groups started by them. Their pseudonyms are meaningless objects that they latch onto and they use just about any weapon available or necessary. Their city sector either hates or fears them and they are at odds with the law. Overall goal: The most common motivator of all, money and power. (But money comes first) Color= dimgray Status: One slot available!
Leaders of the groups: Belladonna (Urukhai) Avia (KiwiBaer) Royals (bluetommy2) Familia (Keksalot) Black Cats (Sohtem)
Insert image of your character here (While I personally have a preference towards artsy/anime images, you can do whatever you feel like) Name: Group: Position in group: (Leader, senior assassin, assassin, newbie) Codename: Age: Appearance: Personality: Background: (Note: I of course don't want you to spoil anything juicy that can later be revealed IC, but just a brief bio if you want. At the bare minimum, please explain how you found your way into the group you're in!) Leisure activities: (What do you do when you're not gunning people down? Do you have a day job of sorts? What do you do for fun?) Extra:
Please note! Before you pump out a character sheet, I would really love it if you would tell me which group you are looking to join so I can pull you into a PM and tell you all the dirty details about that particular group! We can't go around telling everyone our trade secrets and base of operations, now can we? However, this doesn't have to be final, if you decide after learning more in-depth about one of them that you don't actually want to join, that's perfectly fine and we can adjust for that. It'll be fun though if you want to try and explain how you received inside knowledge on a rival group! Thank you for your interest, I'm really excited to get started with this!
