Nightpaw was once a she-cat with many brothers and sisters. However, tragedy struck one day, and an outbreak of greencough scoured WaveTribe. Several cats, many of them kits, perished in such a devastating blow to the Tribe. And unfortunately, Nightpaw was the only one in her litter who survived.

Her parents, Fernlight and Crowflight, were horrified that all of their kits, save for one, died. Instead of grieving for moons on end, they coddled Nightpaw. They shadowed her, seeing what she was up to and what she was doing at many points of the day. This led Nightpaw to become stubborn and frustrated, and she has become distant with her parents ever since then. 

When Nightpaw became an apprentice, her parents laid off a little and gave her space. They still watch her from afar, and she knows that, while they might be overly protective at times, she knows that they are proud of her. 

Fernlight is a sweet she-cat, as sweet as one could be. One wonders how the large Crowflight could have fallen in love with her; the tom is considered overly serious and emotionless, but it can be seen that he smiles whenever Fernlight and Nightpaw are around.

Many might think that Nightpaw is sassy and spoiled, but this is due to the fact that she was spoiled a large amount when she was a kit. All in all, she is a strong, independent she-cat, and believes she has the mental fortitude of a full warrior. However, this is what she believes; she is still very green, and has never fought in battle. Once one gets past the sassy mouth and her sharp claws, they can tell that she is an overall friendly Tribe member who will stand by her friends and allies in battle.
