Damian was born into Batman's world since Ra's Al Gul is arguably one of Batman's most greatest enemies and Damian was raised in the league of assassins. Dick had normal parents and lived a normal childhood until they died and Batman took him in as his sidekick. Damian never had a normal childhood, hell even Bruce had a normal childhood until his parents were killed.

Also Dick still follows the generic comic book character origin of having his parents die and using that to become a hero. Not saying its bad, but it isn't unique.
