Oh his name would certainly be reported, and I suspect the General would be very unkind about Ansgar, considering that Ansgar had gone and killed the man's daughter, even if it was in self defense. So, likely, the fact he disobeyed orders, murdered his superior, and ran would be the general things reaching her. Certainly not even half the story, but hey, to the victor, goes the ability to write history. And the General was in a better position to write history than he was. Certainly can be embellished if you want, since the stories reaching other ears would be out of his control completely.
