I had Monterys marry Princess Daenyra in the backstory in order to tie House Velaryon to House Targaryen as is the long-standing tradition. Ergo any child of Monterys' is a grandchild of Jon and Dany, unless she is a bastard. 

If you want to avoid the familial relation, she could be the daughter of Aurane and the whole swashbuckling adventurer concept would work just as well. More so even, if you consider how untamed the Stepstones would still be.
