Wherd Trasso was born in an Ithorian colony in the capital city of Ord Mantell in the Mid Rim. Born to an upper class household, Trasso received an excellent education and became a political figurehead in the city at a very young age. During his teenage years he discovered that he was strong with the force, and was offered training by the Jedi Order. He respectfully declined, instead pursuing a life in politics, which led him to soon be elected as Senator of the city, a role which he kept for several decades.

As Senator of Ord Mantell, Trasso built a strong relationship with the Jedi Order, who he was a great supporter of. Despite choosing not to follow the path of a Jedi, Trasso was a devout believer of the force and it's significance in the universe, forging a close relationship with Grand Master Yoda and often coming to the Jedi for his wisdom. With the Order firmly in his favor, Trasso stood for election as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic in 56 BBY, winning marginally and taking his seat at the head of the Republic.

Trasso's first term as Chancellor was considered a prosperous time for the Republic, and any corruption within the Senate was certainly not common knowledge, though some did criticize him for his leniency with the Jedi Order, as Trasso essentially granted them the freedom to act as they wished within Republic space. Nonetheless, he had the majority of people on his side and he was voted in for another four years in 52 BBY.[/hider]
