Kaeso is the disgraced son of the Noble House Adepphius. He has been sent to fight on the frontlines in the civil war between House Adepphius and their ancient rivals of House Veros over disputes over the use of the Imperial Denarii. It began several years prior when his father Marcus, then Primarch of the Systems Senatum, decreed that the old form of currency, Blue Vaeykyte was no longer a suitable form and made the Imperial Denarii the default replacement. Most of the senatum voiced their approval apart from House Veros, who opposed the idea. It is not known whether this was due to their genuine concern or in an act of spite against their bitter rivals, but shortly after the Denarii was adopted, the sector was plunged into hyperinflation, it was now struggling to sustain itself. Pleas of aid to the Imperial senate on Nova Terra were denied as they believed it would soon be sorted and was a ‘Temporary effect of the change’. After a year of struggle, House Veros led a coup on the planet of Exon III, defeating local government forces, only hours later the entire planet was under their control. Now, 3 years later the conflict still goes on, with the Exon System aligning itself with House Veros and the Praetoriax System aligning itself with House Adepphius, the system thus caught in the middle of the conflict, the Tallus system has been all but destroyed with the waring fleets and armies battling on both ground and space. Kaeso himself is a squad leader and has been part of the conflict for 3 years, since he came of age. He leads Medusa Squad of the 2nd Legion and has been through much with his fellow soldiers, witnessing their deaths and their successes alike. He has achieved what would be considered the rank of Captain in the Imperial Army but as he fights in the House Adepphius’ Retinue Force he would not be treated as one in the presence of Imperial Forces. The reasoning behind Kaeso being cast out into the Retinue was because of his illegitimacy to the House and his fathers belief he would threaten Gaeus’ right to rule. Believing the war would kill him off. However Marcus loved Kaeso’s mother, so when she pleaded he take care of him at least until he came of age he promised. She passed shortly after giving birth to Kaeso, so he never knew of her. Kaeso is on good relations with Gaeus and Axia as he grew up with them, they desire for him to return and are quite close however Marcus has been able to remove Kaeso from his mind as he has outcast him and now only sees him as a threat to Gaeus’ lineage. [hider=Tri System Senatum] Name of Territory: The Tri System Senatum Government: Republic (Under the Imperium, a puppet of sorts) Capital World: Praetoriax II Population: 27 Billion Economy: Blue Vaeykyte gemstones (Found in asteroids only in Tri System space.) Currently suffering from hyperinflation due to change from BV currency to ID Culture: Similar to that of Ancient Rome during it’s republic. Social Structure: Territorial Size: Three Systems, Praetoriax, Exon & Tallus. Preatoriax has 4 Planets: Praetoriax I is a barren world, with limited oxygen. Population (>1 Billion)/Barren Theme Preatoriax II is the Captial world, similiar to Earth but with a much more Tundra-like Enviroment. It’s appearance is a blend of Tundra and industry. It is home to the Tri System Senatum’s Shipyards and Main Port and thus House Adepphius have the advantage in naval warfare and funding from trade. Population (8 Billion)/Continental Theme Praetoriax III is the large moon of P II and is home to the Blue Vaeykyte, aside neighbouring asteroids and those found in the other two systems. Praetoriax IV is the only other planet in the system with a population above 2 Billion and is mildly beautiful, compared to that of the tundra/industrial appearance of P II. Population (5 Billion)/Arid Theme Exon has 3 Planets: Exon I is a small gas giant with a blue tint, it has been mined for the spice which is within its low high atmosphere. Exon II is an incredibly large tundra planet, however, it has little to now land capable of being used for agriculture and as such can only field a small population. It is the latest colonisation effort of the TSS, being colonised 100 years prior. Population (4 Billion)/ Tundra Theme Exon III is the capital of the system and is home to House Veros after their coup of the local government. It is relatively large and has supplied the House with a great deal of its forces. Before the war it was the Tri System Senatum’s Armoury and thus House Veros have gained the advantage when fighting on land. Population (10 Billion)/ Continental Theme Tallus has 2 Planets: Tallus I The conflict began in the Tallus system on Tallus I, the fight began on the capital city of Hexes but soon spread to the countryside and soon, the entire planet. The planets once beautiful Gaia appearance has been all but annihilated with the on-going conflict. Population (5 Million)/Gaia Theme Tallus II 2 years after the conflict spread to Tallus I, it spread to Tallus II after the system refused to choose a side in the civil war. It is an alpine planet, but like Tallus I, it has been tainted by the conflict. Population (3 Million)/Alpine Theme Military and Security Forces: House Adepphius has a military retinue of reasonable size of 20 million from the Praetoriax system contrasted against that of House Veros’ 14 Million in the Exon system, Tallus has so far remained unaligned in the civil war and thus their military retinue forces of 8 million have not been sent to either side, however tens of thousands of volunteers have gone to either side. The combat style they use is similar to that of the Romans, deploying a strong defensive shield wall to the enemy, however this is the extent of the similarities as they then use Lasguns developed on Exon III to create a volley of unrelenting laser fire over the battlefield in an attempt to suppress enemy forces. The Adepphius Retinue is sorted into 3 Legions, each with just over 7 Million men. These legions are then sorted into Battle Sectors and each Battle Sector is assigned into squads. The Squads are named individually by the men in them in an attempt to create camaraderie among the men. Different squads also have different sayings. An example of this being Medusa Squad, led by Captain Kaeso Adepphius, whose motto is “See us and die”. The Veros Retinue is relatively similar but with only 2 Legions due to the smaller manpower of the Exon System. However they make up for this with their superior weaponry due to the armoury on Exon III. The navy of the Tri System Senatum is the same for both Houses. Although House Adepphius control the main Shipyard and thus gain dominance over fleet-based warfare, House Veros’ tactics are designed to counterbalance this with guerrilla-like warfare which in turn presents them with less dominance in space combat, but with, on average, similar losses to that of the Adepphius navy. Armoury: Army The armoury of the Tri System Senatum is relatively under developed, as disputes over the use of the denarii have been ongoing for countless years, many researchers have focused on more economic means of advancement, however most of these techniques and inventions are now not apparent as the raging civil war has caused the development to halt, and inventions to be destroyed. Plans and rare prototypes are all that remain. Although military research now refuses to cease. The military equipment of an average legionary is a blend of armour and clothing, with the khaki green armour covering the head, shoulders, chest and knees, while the rest of the body is covered in a burlywood military fatigue appearance. Both House’s retain this appearance, although House Veros have painted the armour black and commonly field a wide array of gear, to show their distaste to their previous government. The gear is seen on Kaeso on the portrait above.. The most common weaponry found in the 3 systems are both the Lakeax Mk II, a bolt action pulse rifle which powers the projectile with the bolt action priming it for firing. This weapon is incredibly easy to manufacture with the Blue Vaekyte assisting the designers in making it an effective tool of warfare. Other weaponry exists, such as the Vexin pulse machine gun and various other weaponry such as artillery and tanks. Fleet The fleet of the Tri System contains numerous vessel models and weaponry, however the most common 3 vessels are the: Harvex Class Destroyer - The Harvex Class destroyer is the most common vessel in the three systems as it is the smallest capital ship, whilst also remaining quite strong. It is cheap to produce, costing only 4 Billion Imperial Denarii. Its outfitted with pulse cannons and a main battle cannon. The front of the vessel has a hammerhead like appearance. Janen Class Cruiser - The Janen Class Cruiser is a larger vessel of the Cruiser class, it has superior firepower to that of the Harvex’s pulse cannons, with twin-linked pulse cannons which can be supercharged to unleash devastating destruction enemy forces, however this leaves the vessel with little energy to power shields and engines and other key systems so one successful hit could disable the ship’s shields and eventually destroy the vessel entirely. Axan Class Scout Craft - The Axan scout craft was originally developed to field a crew of 15, with the mission of exploring the galaxy, long ago when the Tri System was on the frontier of the Imperium. However, those days have long passed, and the leftover vessels have been retrofitted to fulfil numerous roles, such as drop ships, troop transport, heavy fighters, logistics vessel, among others.
