[@blumenk] Cannon fire woke Eddie up. Lamenting his lack of a scope to look through, he wandered out of the cave he had been living in. The sounds were fairly distant, but he thought he could see flashes of cannon fire in the distance. Walking to the beach, he walked over to one of the ships. Or, to be exact, his ship. He laid a hand on its side, and sighed. Three years, he had spent on her. Now broken, her keel snapped, beyond repair. He ducked through a hole in her side, balancing on the slight slope, as she had beached at high speed, ending up almost sideways. He had already moved most of the useful items into the cave over the past few days, but after his earlier wish for a telescope, he remembered that he had brought a magnifying glass, which he now found under the bed in his cabin. Putting it in his pocket reassured him. It reminded him of the University. He was running out of supplies, so he walked along the beach, hoping he would find something. A few minutes later, he did. A new wreck, and footprints. Tracking these, he found a man sleeping next to a sea chest. Eddie walked up and shook the man's shoulder, "Ho there, sailor. Am I ever glad to see you."
