The fact that you're having second thoughts could be potential character conflict. Sicaria could be having second thoughts herself, which forces her into a personal crisis. Possibly even forces her to cheat on her partner[@Silver Fox]. EDIT Didact covered that. And to be fair, people end three year relationships for slim chances with other partners all the time.
