Mako had to take care of the two of them, so I don't think he had time to worry about women. In that respect, I'd say Mako is a good man, and Asami knows that. He just made a very big error and he's rightly paying for it. He doesn't expect her to forget it because he knows he wouldn't, but he doesn't want to leave that house single.
