He notices the man, but doesn’t move.

He answers the call.

He does not move.

"When can we get up again?" he asked. "The streets of New Nemea are very comfortable, but I am a little thirsty now."
"Shut up." The male knight with the pavise said absent-mindedly as he turned his body and began to approach both Fortune and the fallen crossbowman. The female officer had approached the tripod and rooted her pavise on the street behind her while she worked on the circuitry at the tripod's base, and appeared content to let her partner manage the scene.
"Hello, officers? I'm the one who called you, I can explain as much as I can after you get us out of here." She spat out some of the dirt that had covered her face after the shockwave. "Most of us are unarmed. Just be careful dealing with the redhead, he's a bit trigger-happy and I don't want another accidental shootout."

"Now listen, I'm a police inspector. Did you hear me?? Just check the inside of my coat, on the left. I've been commissioned by two governors in cooperation to investigate strange goings-on in this particular area. Already I've been forced to take more aggressive action today than I've ever had to during the last ten years of my career, so I'd appreciate it if I didn't have to spend the rest of this long, ridiculous day on the ground!!"
[@Bright_Ops] "You're lucky that you aren't going to spend the rest of your short life in an oubliette, 'inspector.'" The male knight responded flatly as he approached Fortune and the crossbowman. He set his pavise into the ground a ways in front of them and gripped the stock of his compound crossbow with both hands - paying little attention to Donny save the brief offhand comment he had just uttered. "Alright. Which one of you two jokers is Fortune De Vigny?" Which was when he spotted the red-suited man with the face reminiscent of rebar, who had staggered his way up to both of his feet. It was at that precise moment that reality decided to break at the seams some more. [@mdk] Fortune answered the man's question before the red-suited man begins to speak, so the man promptly launches into a tirade. "Officer, this red-haired oaf is not an inspector! He is Donovan Booth, and he is on both the FBI's most wanted list as well as the Turquoise Charter! He is responsible for that mess with the limousine, and he attacked me and my companions as we drove closer to assist! He is responsible for the deaths of nearly every single corpse you see here!" The female knight finished fiddling with the tripod's rudimentary circuitry and rose back to her feet before idly kicking the tripod stand over with a hefty bash from the side of her right greave, sending the mounted spike toppling over onto the concrete with a tremendous metallic bang. As the red-suited man is still alive, an enormous, blinding bolt of lightning instantly leapt from the levitating traffic sphere and enveloped his body, reducing him to a mass of rapidly flash-vaporizing, champagne-colored slop and ashes that float and drift eerily in the distorted gravity.
Amelie kept still, looking at the scene that was taking place. One of the officers… really strange officers, asked for a Fortune De Vigny. Turned out to be one of them. The knight, specifically. Huh. The man in a red-suit then started yelling about the red-haired man… calling him Donovan Booth. After the things that Amelie had just seen him do, she made better to believe the man than anything else. Then the woman kicked the tripod and a lightning-blast too unexpected for Amelie to react to suddenly blasted the man to ashes. Amelie flinched in place, trying to recover from the terror of just having seen another man gruesomely die before her. S-so… That tripod had been for their own protection. What were the rules? How did the lightning decide who to strike? The police were both in armor. Was that more to defend against the lightning than anything else? She hoped she wasn’t making a terrible mistake, lying here without protection from such energy. But, it looked like she yet lived. Fortune started moving to stand up. Amelie’s eyes focused on him, figuring that if any of them was going to suffer the consequences it would be him. She got ready to summon a Redirection Orb to block a sudden lightning-strike or potentially an attack from the police against him. … Granted, he was wearing armor that could defend him, maybe? But just in case. Amelie was ready to attempt redirecting an attack from any direction aimed at him, hopefully in a direction where nobody was. … And, also maybe to defend herself, if something tried to kill her. Maybe. Herself, except for moving her head with wide eyes to keep full attention of what was going on in case a Redirection Orb was needed, lay down with hands on her head. She felt terrified. What was going to happen now…?
