Kail Kali watched nervously as Cecilia seemed to access the two woman before her, weighing up the information they had provided. There was a moment of doubt that spread across Kali’s thoughts as she wondered if perhaps she had been underwhelming in her descriptions of her abilities. Such doubts and fears alleviated themselves as Cecilia treated the two of them to the sight of her smile once more. ’A Rogue, I suppose that is a fitting description she thought with a small grin, the smile spreading as Cecilia confirmed that she had a place for one such as Kali. ~~~ It was hours later, the familiar sights of the rolling plains and green forests had given way to the towering stone and brown dirt roads. The cold night wind had faded in strength as the first rays of the sun split over the peaks that lay above them, providing some warmth that curbed the cut of the freezing air. Glancing to her side, and to the right of Cecilia, Kali did feel a small tinge of sadness that Adela had declined the offer to join the Goddess. Though Kali mind was fond of the idea being the only one to accompany the Goddess on this journey, she knew that was a somewhat selfish desire. As she turned back, she glanced at Cecilia as she confidently strode along the path, it was often rumoured in the town that Giants made their home in these peaks and the sights of large patches of disturbed dirt seemed to lead credence to that idea. Somewhat lost in her own thoughts, Kali barely noticed that Cecilia had stopped, and almost ran into her back. As Cecilia offered the words of confidence, Kali suddenly realized they were approaching a camp of sorts, and that if she needed to offer such assurances then there was possibly danger ahead. Though the tales of terrible giants swum with violent images in her mind, Kali could not find the will to panic, as long as she was in the presence of Cecilia she felt protected. As the Giants noticed their presence and withdrew their own weapons, Kali stopped as Cecilia continued forward, if there was a chance of a battle occurring Kali did not wish to get in Cecilia’s way or otherwise hamper her. Despite the intimidating size and nature of the giants the Goddess was unphased by their demands, treating them as though there were but an unpleasant nuisance. Her voice rung strongly through the air, her words carrying a weight of divine authority and force of command, almost daring the giants to challenge her demand. Prideful and protective of their own territory, the giants met the challenge in what Kali believed would be an incredible battle. But to her surprise, Cecilia easily held the first Giant’s strike as though it had no force behind it, her entire form remaining still as the dirt and ground cracked underneath her from absorbing such a heavy blow ”Unbelieveable” Kali uttered in Amazement as with a simple flick of the Goddess’s dagger hand sent the massive creature tumbling backwards against its own will, the Giants seeming to be even more surprised than Kali at the situation. Giving them a second chance, the Giants were quick to take it, their thundering footsteps quickly fading into the distance and leaving Kali and Cecilia to silence save for the crackling of the now abandoned fire. Walking back up to Cecilia as she replaced her daggers, Kali replied to her statement “And I never had a doubt that you would keep your word” Kali spoke as a smile of her own matched Cecilia’s. As they walked forward and the purpose of this trip was explained Kali could not help but exclaim ”We’re seeking a Legendary bow for me?! Well...I suppose then this is almost a gift of sorts from you then?” Kali replied with a soft giggle at the thought. In some ways this whole situation seemed almost unreal, and the idea of a Goddess gifting her a bow of legends seemed to only add to that factor. Looking at Cecilia she could feel a tinge of heat spread across her cheeks as she replied ”And I guess that does fit the story of a hero, to be both chosen and then gifted a legendary weapon by a beautiful goddess herself.”. Despite the cool air that the mountain currents drove down the mountain path, Kali found herself filled with a strange warmth. Perhaps it was just an effect of being within the Presence of Cecilia but, Kali suspected there may have been more to it than that
