Well, if I may use DC as an example.  During a period Bruce Wayne wasn't around to run Wayne Industries.  His like 8 year old son Damien took over and the stocks improved when he came back.

As for Valeria Richards, its Reed and Susan's younger daughter...

She's powerless but supposedly as smart as Reed.  If I remember correctly something went wrong with her birth or Doom played a part in it.  But he ended up helping Susan give birth to her.  But wanted Reed and Susan to name her Valeria in exchange, his mother's name.
