[@TheWindel] If that's how things work, Alexi would not fight for the Machina. I thought most humans in Hyperion were basically pets in the sense of "here's luxury because we're in a post scarcity society, enjoy, now stay out of our way while we wage war".

If they're enslaved/soldiers/experiments, Alexi would have never joined them, and if that's a recent development, she would have left them and not fought for them.
