Sue Sue woke up from her nap and looked up at the clock high up on a wall, just opposite her – its ticking noise largely absorbed by the anechoic, noise-muffling walls. It was late and there was no sign of Anthony being here in her room or even a knock on the door in the previous hours. Though she was now quite awake and most likely going to stay up throughout the night to finish her homework, she was no longer in the mood to see Anthony, expecting him to have come earlier. She reached for her phone and sent a text message to “Anthony baby <3” ”I thought when you said you had plans but could make time for me, you meant it. Sorry for putting my hopes up with the busy, busy Luthor. Perhaps another time, then.” She pouted her lips to a corner. She turned on her TV, a recent privilege with huge stipulations on its usage, especially to volume levels, and watched a bit of world news. She smiled when she saw a flash of superheroes being praised for their vigilant work, a reminder of what she wanted to be. She left it on while reaching into her bag to pull out her homework. It wasn’t as hard as she’d thought - which was not to say she didn’t want Anthony here at all. She almost felt silly for having such high hopes. After her homework, she did her routine stretches and exercises, then fell asleep at the ten mark.
