[@TalijaKey][@bluetommy2]So as far as time period is concerned, I personally think World War 1 is the way to go. It's close enough to modern day for us to still be pretty relatable, but it's also enough in the past to get plenty of those sweet, sweet history jokes we all came here for. Plus, I like stealing an idea from Hetalia, where annexed/conquered nations(such as the Balkans) live under the rule of whoever annexed them(IE Austria-Hungary). It gives us plenty of NPCs to work with, and it's a great midpoint setting between too historical and too recent.
