An out-going and friendly young woman that has one hell of stubborn streak. She comes off as very self-dependent and makes it clear she can stay that way, though once you break through her outer shell she can be a very sweet person; She's never dated a boy in her life, and therefor lacks a bit of romantic sense, as well as any experience. Making her fairly naive on the subject. But her Papa and big brother taught her the kind of men to avoid.

Marlene was raised on a berry farm in the wild region of Orre, where criminals ran wild and trouble was always brewin'. She learned to take care of herself by the help of her father and older brother, though she craved more than the farm life; Much to their annoyance and concern. They told her it was too dangerous; She needed to stay and help with the farm, find a husband, settle down and raise a new generation for the homestead. 

But she didn't want to be tied down; Skipping the possibility of these things happening, she ran away; Fleeing on the earliest boat from Gateon Port to wherever the heck she could go; Her trusty Mudbray and some very basic supplies being all she brought with her. She had no idea where she was going, but knew adventure was out there; Her current objective was to ask around the boat about where it was heading, to see if she knew the area...

Marlene is a hardy cowgirl who is just as competent as any man; She has enough muscle to knock most guys her age right on their ass without a second thought if they mess with her. She's gotten in a few scuffles with thugs before, and isn't afraid to do it again. It's also notable that, giving her farmgirl origins, she knows a lot about berry farming, and milking Pokemon; As well as how to properly care for farm Pokemon, like her Mudbray. This knowledge applies to most Pokemon in general situations, however. Not restricting her helpfulness to just farmstead Pokemon.
