Agent and Sera

Eudora's heart quickened and swelled within her, her breathing became shallow and her mouth dry. The excitement was slowly rotting into a sense of dread as she felt disaster approaching. Worry danced in her mind as they neared the top. Eudora's ears pricked towards the slight shuffling she heard, someone was up there. The blade grew heavy in her hand as they drew closer, the anticipation numbing her senses. Once they got to the top, Eudora was drenched in a cold sweat and ready to fight. She then turned the corner only to be met with the sight of someone levelling a gun at the agent, her heart skipped a beat as she readied to hurl a blade at the gunner. Her arm stopped mid-way as she realised the other was safe. Relief washed over her and her hands retreated back towards her waist as she stealthily slipped the blade back into hiding. She mentally scolded herself for worrying. Honestly, what was there to fear? She greeted the other people with a curt nod and a smile, feeling a bit of pride swell in her as she heard the agent say "official business". She was a part of official business, how exciting. Midway into retreating herself into a pleasant corner of her mind, her eyes widened as that same poisonous dread set back in. Her eyes, like everyone else's, were directed towards the ceiling. The eerie creaks and groans. It was too late when she realised what was happened. "Look out!" she tried to scream, only for her last syllable to be drowned out with a deafening crash as a cabinet fell through the roof. Eudora almost jumped out of her skin at that impossibly loud and dull thud. After the fall, she checked herself over, thanking the powers that be for protecting her. However, the agent didn't seem to be as favoured by them. Seeing the shards of glass embed themselves into the agent's leg, Eudora almost instantly dropped to her knees to take a look at them. Panic wrecked her mind as she hurriedly pulled out the larger chunks and with shaking hands wrapped her shawl around the leg. Her attention was momentarily divided as someone suddenly called out to her. A fair and beautiful woman with piercing eyes and for a moment Eudora believed that was the angel that was going to whisk the agent away. "I saw that there was a dumbwaiter on the fourth floor, that's an only escape route. If Valeska is up there she will try and use that to try and escape, we go and cut her off on one of the floors. We need to also get him downstairs, he's injured." the woman said to her, and Eudora, too stunned to reply, nodded stiffly and with intense worry. She looked back down at the agent, placing a finger to his forehead and muttering a blessing. She then got up, skirt dancing at her feet as she hurried towards the dumbwaiter, feet thumping heavily on the floorboards. She didn't have time to be sneaky now. Gliding across the room, she passed the fallen man, gritting her teeth to try to ignore him for now. Right now, all she had to do was intercept the girl. Flinging the doors open, she stuck her head inside, the smell of rust filling her lungs as she looked up. "Hello?" she called out, her tone even despite the rage of emotions within her, "If you can hear me, please, don't run! We can and want to help you!" She held her breath and waited, every moment of silence feeling like an eternity of endless anticipation.
