[center][i]The Kingdom of Noreik has seen better days. Fields and farms lay barren, all the young man are at war now. The enemy, the brutal invaders of Kazgrad stand at the gates, plundering, raping and pillaging. The army is losing ground, and the castles at the borders are slowly crumbling. The legendary knights and heroes of Noreik are no more than bloating corpses.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. King Roland turned to those he shunned and persecuted. He turned to vile sorcerers and necromancers, enemies of the faith and cultists of evil.
[b]"Bring me back the heroes of old! My army needs beacons of hope and justice in shining armor!"[/b]
They did what he demanded, but he did not get what he wanted.[/i]

[center][i]The bodies of the fallen were placed in a circle around the black monolith. King Roland stood there in shock, fear and regret as the cultists started their chant. [b]"It is for the kingdom..."[/b], he whispered to himself. Smoke filled the crypt and the lights began to flicker as the choir reached it crescendo. Unnatural shadows seemed to dance in the smoke, whispers in an unknown and terrifying tongue offered forbidden secrets. The King spoke a silent prayer for forgiveness, even though he knew it was too late for that. Everyone in this room forfeited his chance for paradise.
The whispers left and beastly screams took their place. What seemed to be a gigantic black spider with the face of a woman crawled on the monolith. A warlock positioned himself in front of the monolith chanting like a madman, while the prisoners of war were brought in.
Roland took of his crown and tried to hold back the tears. He had gone to far. One after another the Prisoners throats were slit, the blood colouring the floor red.
It was then a soft whisper was heard. The rattling of bones. It was done...[/i][/center]

The Year is 478 after the founding of Noreik.
Noreik is a fairly large and populated kingdom. Most of it is farmlands, woods and mountains in the south. The north has also a large coast. The technology level is the late medieval era, black powder is incredibly new and not really used in combat. The King of Noreik is Roland 'The Bold', a beloved king and patron of the artists and builders. 
The official religion of Noreik is the faith of Sulost. Followers of Sulost believe in the creator deity Sulost who puts a divine spark in each human. Followers are expected to act according to the way, which means to follow the path one was born to do. A son of a baker should become a baker etc. Nevertheless the faith of Sulost also has a strong element of hero worship, relict of a prior faith. Great warriors, artists and kings are elevated to a demigod like level, their bones and belongings become important relics for the faithful.

The people of Khazgrad are considered barbarians by most more civilized nations. They worship pagan gods and were only recently united unter the banner of one King, Roggo ar'Khar. They are tribesman living in the harsh north and utilise a lot of heavy infantry and are well known for their wild warriors and horse archers.

[hider=The Perks of being Undead]
Being a walking corpse of bone and rotting flesh has its perks. Your hero does not need to eat or sleep. He can talk without a tongue through dark magic. Arrows and swords can't hit fatal weakspots, quite the opposite. To kill an undead one would need magic or to destroy his body completely.
