But to those who are able to befriend her and know her better, she can be very caring and affectionate, even passing a motherly aura. It takes a lot to get her angry, needing only a few minutes to calm herself down. She usually prefers to solve her problems by talking rather than by violence. Ironically enough, Meilin loves martial arts and enjoys a good sparring session. She absolutely hates arrogant and obnoxious types, but would never start a conflict about it, choosing often to simply walk away. Meilin is somewhat shy regarding romantic relationships, but if someone catches her eye, she will actually try to show her interest, albeit in more discreet and indirect ways. The most effective way to earn her attention is by being kind, attentive and above everything else, delicate. She dislikes those who try to reach her in a brute, unrefined manner. She loves to read, have interesting conversations, listening to music, playing her flute and meditating.
Backstory:
Meilin was born into a martial arts temple, her parents being monks themselves, she learned martial arts since she was a child. The fact that she was only a small girl irritated some more traditional practitioners, but even as a child, her talent was undeniable, having a strong body and a deep passion not for the power that the martial arts offered, but the wisdom and teachings that came with it, she had everything to master even the more complicated forms. As the time passed, the entire temple was forced to acknowledge that Meilin was special. With that, the others started to treat her not as a child, but as a martial artist, even asking for advices and for her to teach them. Her attentive and calm behavior were perfect for teaching, thing which she actually enjoyed doing, usually helping those who asked her with private lessons about martial arts and tips on how to use their body more effectively, while improving herself. As she continued studying and practicing martial arts, she stumbled upon some very interesting styles, some regarded as myths or only tales, others actual styles forgotten by the time but all of them had one thing in common: instead of using swords, staffs or other weapons, they used the flute. A simple musical instrument, but in the hands of those skilled enough, became a deadly weapon, capable of stopping even blades. One day, when Meilin was practicing tai chi with the flute, she had an urge to play it. She didn't knew from where that came, but she simply took it and started playing while continuing to practice. With slow and precise movements, she took the flute to her mouth. Her fingers moved almost instinctively, together with her body. The melody that came out from that simple flute as she meditated drew the attention of the oldest monks in the temple, as the beautiful music echoed through the halls. She had never played flute before, neither that tune was a tune that a musician could play, it was a tune that reflected her experience and deep passion for martial arts. The elders immediately sent her to a secluded part of the temple in the middle of the mountains where the oldest and wisest monks would test her, and if she had the will to learn and accept their teachings, they would teach her the ways of the Song of the Shifting Flowers, an ancient form of martial art using the flute as its weapon. The test wasn't about her physical, but instead, they were testing her resolve, her mind and her passion for the martial arts. After completing the test, she was deemed able to learn about the secret art. Her second test to determine if she was worthy of learning the Song of the Shifting Flowers was going inside the mountain in a jade mine and hitting the stone with enough strength and on the right places to break a perfect piece of jade, without a single crack. Days passed as she hit the stone wall with her bare fists in the most varied ways, staining the wall with her own blood. Not knowing what to do, she laid down on the ground, wounded, tired and almost giving up. That was when she saw a single stalactite, made entirely of rough jade. It was too high for her to reach, and if she tried to break it with a stone, it would shatter the stone and break its core. Looking around, searching for an answer, she saw a couple of holes in the other corner of the wall. These holes, when she did an open palm strike produced sounds that echoed through the entire cave. She noted that for each time she hit a different hole, it produced a different note, shaking the stalactite a little bit. It was only an idea, but she resolved to try anyways, to hit the holes mimicking the same song she played in the flute before. As she rhythmically played the notes, striking the wall with precision and just enough power to produce the clean sound, the stalactite started to vibrate more and more. When it was almost falling down, she extended her hand, catching it in mid air. When she gave the stone to one of the elder monks, it immediately threw it on the ground. Meilin gasped in terror as the stone hit the ground, shattering to pieces only to show its core which was almost a perfect cylinder made completely of jade. From that cylinder, the monks made a flute for her as a symbol of her being able to learn the art. It was on that temple that Meilin discovered her powers. Almost immediately, a member of the Institute came to invite her to a special place where she would learn to better control her powers, but after a brief talk with her and the elders monks, they agreed in letting her complete her training there. After completing it, it was time for her to go to the institute, where she quickly learned on how to wield her power. Now with 18 years, Meilin decided to continue on the institute. She believed that it was her responsibility to pass her knowledge to those who needed it, and as such, she enrolled on the institute once more for a year before she could effectively teach there. Without making unnecessary movements, she is able to save her energy, being able to stay in combat for a good while before getting tired. Her intensive training gives her an impressive control over her own muscles, making her able to perform acrobatics that would be difficult to untrained people. She an unexpectedly good cook. Names/descriptions of moves:

Channeller category: Alternative
Description of power: Sound Manipulation
Names/descriptions of moves:
Falling Petals: Meilin can produce a very high frequency note from her flute. Those within hearing range will feel dizzy, nauseated and vertigo. Meilin can focus this ability on a single user, which will cause him to also feel a sharp, disorientating pain or simply let everyone who hears it in a range of 15m feel the normal effects. Its important to note that only those who hear the actual note will feel the effects. This ability is not a full song like the Song of the Shifting Flowers, but a single note produced from her flute. If someone hears it consecutive times, it'll strengthen it's effect on their body and take longer to recover. If one stops hearing the sound after hearing one or more times, he will still feel the effects from the previous times he hear it, but his body will start gradually recovering from it.
Fang of the Jade Dragon: Using the wind passing through her flute to resonate, she can effectively wield her flute as a sword, using the sound waves produced when she moves her flute quickly to either cut or stab.
Open Hand Strike: With a powerful open hand strike, Meilin sends a low frequency wave of sound, damaging the internal organs of the target.
Heartbeat of the Jade Dragon: Using her entire body's mass and strength, she gives a powerful stomp on the ground, creating a shockwave around her, knocking those nearby away and inflicting impact damage.
Song of the Shifting Flowers: Using her flute, she plays a tune which creates a pressurized current of air able to inflict cuts on the target. The cuts are deep enough to cut muscles, but not deep enough to hit internal organs. Meilin has complete control over the area that the sound can affect and the intensity of the wounds inflicted. This ability is a full song, and as such will impede Meilin to use her hands for the duration of the song. It has a radius of 10m and it can be blocked if one wears armor or is behind an obstacle strong enough to resist the cuts. The cuts are not instantaneous, albeit they are ridiculously fast to a normal human to dodge, those with enhanced hearing can predict where the cuts will strike and those with enhanced speed can dodge it, although if Meilin focuses the ability in one target, it will be rather hard to evade every single one of them.
