Personally I think Links are gonna be awesome. The new archetypes look competent, (At least Star Grail's) and the game can change from the "break my YUGE board" style of play we have right now. Yeah, some decks you like might not benefit from this, my Ancient Gears are a good example, but regardless it's happening so we gotta look at the bright side instead of the negatives. Rogue decks are gonna become more popular and usable, so that's cool. I'll finally be running Dewdark OTK again, lol. Now that I don't have to worry about everyone constantly having a game-ending board turn one.
As much as I wish to agree with this, I don't. The game is still going to be 'Break my board or lose' turn 1 even after Links hit due to the first wave being really good and decently generic, ESPECIALLY in our TCG since Zoo's didn't get hit all that hard. Plus, the game only is that way at the top level of play. Plenty of people on online services and some more casual locals play rogue decks anyway, be it for cost or fun. The game isn't really going to change it's fundamentals, it's simply going to adapt to the new rules and stay mostly stagnant due to modern card design. The link archetypes that we see, while competent, are also slow. Slow is bad in modern YGO. Floodgates are still a thing, and will be more crippling than ever once you hit their key Link monsters. I held your opinion at first too, thinking Link was the shit. Then I thought about it and concluded that, actually, nothing is going to change.
