Then why did the OCG pre-emptively ban freaking Gofu? It sure as heck wasn't a problem card pre-link format, so they could've just waited until after Links hit to do so. The argument for Zoo not getting hit majorly is kind of silly too: Zoos are like, 90% of the current decks and will remain 90% of the decks because the core engine is in tact. They had all the reason to hit it even before links were a thing, so this argument makes no sense to me. Also, they're kind of releasing an entire summon mechanic deck after links hit. If that doesn't scream backwards thinking, I don't know what does.
Because Konami is backwards as fuck. If you don't know this you've obviously not played the game long enough to realize they are pretty fucking strange. Thing is, I don't see Zoo as terribly bad. Before the rat hit, the combos were much worse. Now it's... Alright. When I have bigger concerns, I tend to not worry about the slightly smaller ones; Zoo's to Paleo as an example. I just don't think they need to die yet; wait until after Links so they can get shot down. As for Gofu, like I said, Konami is backwards as fuck. Not the sharpest knives in the crayon box.
...Actually, I agree with this. card's busted af.
yis
Yosenju weren't meta when they were released and won't ever be meta, sorry to say. Deck's too old and outdated at this point, which says something about how fast the game advances. Their effects just aren't good enough. Mermail had its glory, and is in the same boat now. Don't get me wrong, they're really freakin' good, but they needed the paleo engine to function in the big boy leagues nowadays. Unless some more WATER support is released that gives them some impact, I doubt we'll be seeing more of them without the paleo engine.
>their effects just aren't good enough True, mostly. the only monsters you run are the pendulums and the brothers. Other than those, they're trash. They can still do work, though. They won't be meta, but I feel like people will turn to alternatives to Extra Deck summoning; Relying on constant special summons instead. Once everyone figures it out, it's ogre, but they'll have their moment of use. More reason to shit on Paleo. Go, Konami, Go!
Rat going to 2 only made the decks that run the zoo engine switch into the Fusion Subsitute combo, which gave them an extra +2 while slightly hampering their consistency. Not quite the desired result.
Maybe not, but it's what we have. Live it with, mang. That's what we all have to do. That little lack of consistency can be the difference between winning and losing at times. But like most meta decks, if it's pulled off, they're gonna take a huge shit on your board.
