Against a man as himself, who valued preparatory work and meeting expectations, a hero like Ruler appeared not merely as an opponent, but as an antithesis to his own force of intellect. Though the thought sparked across his mind, Rider showed no outward change in demeanor. It would have been more worrisome, in the end, if the Ruler were a competitor to the Grail itself. Fortunately, that was not the case. "I cannot eat while I my thoughts race," Hugues said, declining the invitation to food from both Ruler and his Master, "But I appreciate the offer, Overseer. Might I ask another question as well?" he began, arms unfolding to fall to his sides. "What exactly is your purpose as the Overseer? You are a Servant, but who summoned you? Is your master present?"
