The year is 2043. July 6th- Thousands of people across North America are being informed that the flights leaving the country have all been cancelled. The few trying to cross from Panama to Colombia are stopped by heavily armed Russian soldiers. A coalition of NATO and Japanese warships and aircraft carriers patrol the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, destroying any ships trying to leave the continent. The Chinese Air Force, using South America as a scrambling point, quickly obliterates any uncleared aircraft detected in North American airspace. July 7th- The first cases of what can only be described as zombies begin to be reported. The infected seem to be immune to pain, cannibalistic, and devoid of reason. The worst part though? If the brain stem isn't destroyed quick enough, the infected have shown signs of extremely accelerated healing. July 8th- As cries for salvation soar over radio waves, they fall on unsympathetic ears. A single, massive aircraft escorted by dozens of fighter jets zooms through the night sky toward North Dakota. One by one, its guardians fall to American AA artillery as they approach their target. Finally, just before being the destroyed, the bomber reaches its destination and releases an EMP of titanic proportions. Although the now disabled aircraft races toward the unforgiving earth, the pilot smiles as he notices city lights as far as the eye can see blink into nothingness; against all odds, the mission was a success. How did we get to this point? With an increasingly imperialistic government dominated by a series of warlike presidents and a thoroughly corrupt Congress, the allies of the United States have all but deserted her. Those that remain are mere thralls that exist only to serve their master. The growth of the United States began as a slow creep, hardly noticeable, comprised of under the table deals and hushed promises. One by one, the Central American countries and the Caribbean island nations were welcomed into the ever widening embrace of the United States. Although the US attempted to gain territories in Africa, they were halted by the combined forces of Russia and China, which were supported by the nations of NATO Then, to the surprise of the world, the United States declared that their friend to the north, and their neighbor to the south had decided to become one. The now continent spanning empire would be known simply as America. This was too much for the rest of the world to just stand idly by and watch. A committee of diplomats from around the globe gathered to travel to America with the intent of persuading American leadership to undo the conglomeration of the nations. After a week of deliberation, the delegation was under the impression that the trip had been successful. With wide smiles and happy hearts, they went their separate ways, departing for their homes via air. July 4th- The heavens were shaken as each and every plane carrying a committee member exploded violently. While America refused to comment on the tragedy, the declaration was clear. Foreign interference would not be allowed. Basically, this is your standard zombie RP, based in the near future. We'd explore the nature of the disease, how the quarantine of North America and the outbreak are related to each other, and how people, being punished for the sins of their government, might pull together and build a better future. The characters will all start in the city of Bismarck, North Dakota. However, being nearly three decades from now, the actual layout of the city has changed quite a bit, so it's more or less going to be made up as we go along. Characters would range in age from 16-22ish (basically senior high to college age) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. So, who's interested?
