It depends, since it appears we are starting off at the very start of this tale. Then the group would probably not know much about the mysterious Mr. Pierce. Obviously those who were already at the school for a while should know that Mr. Pierce is a librarian. However if we are starting off already on the monster-killing-as-a-team page then, I think they should know some about what he does, even if it isn't much right now. If that is not the case then I believe it should be left up to each character to have their own relation to the strange librarian.
